Price estimate
We do not have a price for the Danobat MTG-100 that we can stand behind, so we show no number. Configuration, options and installation move the final price a long way: a quote is the reliable figure.
Overview
The Danobat MTG-100 is a hybrid: a hydrostatic hard turning lathe with a grinding spindle, sold as the smaller MikroTurnGrind horizontal model. It turns parts up to 380 mm (14.9 in) in diameter and grinds within Ø130 x 350 mm (5.1 x 13.8 in), on a 4,000 rpm main spindle, in 6.5 m² (70 sqft) of floor.
The idea is to give each surface the process that suits it. Hard turning is quick and follows any contour, so it takes most of the part. Grinding is kept for what turning does poorly: Danobat names small surfaces and inner diameters that require grinding after hard turning. Both happen in one clamping, and the maker says the operator can switch between hard turning and grinding during the operation. The grinding spindle can be assembled and disassembled in two minutes if the next job does not need it.
One clamping is the real argument. A part turned on one machine and ground on another has to be located twice, and the second location is rarely perfect. Finished in one set-up, the ground bore and the turned diameters share an axis. Danobat quotes workpiece results for this machine: dimensional accuracies of ≤ 2 µm, roundness of ≤ 0.5 µm and surface finishes of 0.1 – 0.2 µm (Ra).
Underneath, it is a Mikroturn. The numbers match the Mikroturn 100: the same 6.5 m² (70 sqft), the same 4,000 rpm, a Siemens Sinumerik One control, a hydrostatic main spindle with a guaranteed runout error of ≤ 0.1 µm, and hydrostatic guideways with 1 µm positioning and 0.2 µm repeatability on a natural granite base. A tool changer, with or without live tooling, is among the listed holding options.

Strengths & Limitations
Strengths
- Hard turning and fine grinding in one clamping, with switching between the two during the operation
- Quoted workpiece results of ≤ 2 µm dimensional accuracy and ≤ 0.5 µm roundness
- Surface finishes of 0.1 – 0.2 µm (Ra), finer than the 0.1 – 0.4 µm Ra quoted for the Mikroturn Vertical 800V2
- Occupies 6.5 m² (70 sqft), the same as the turning-only Mikroturn 100
- Grinding spindle can be assembled and disassembled in two minutes
Limitations
- Grinding capacity is Ø130 x 350 mm (5.1 x 13.8 in), far smaller than the 380 mm (14.9 in) turning diameter
- The table prints the positioning row differently in its metric and imperial versions, so that detail is unconfirmed
- No grinding spindle speed, power or wheel size is published
- Tool changer, live tooling, tailstock and steady rest are customisation items

Frequently Asked Questions
01
The MTG-100 adds fine grinding to hard turning. The Mikroturn 100 is a hard turning lathe on which a grinding spindle is one of several finishing options; the MTG-100 is specified as a hybrid, with a stated grinding capacity of Ø130 x 350 mm (5.1 x 13.8 in). Both run at 4,000 rpm and both take 6.5 m² (70 sqft).
02
Maximum turning diameter is 380 mm (14.9 in). Maximum machining capacity for grinding is Ø130 x 350 mm (5.1 x 13.8 in). Spindle speed is 4,000 rpm and the control is Siemens Sinumerik One.
03
For the workpiece: dimensional accuracies of ≤ 2 µm, roundness of ≤ 0.5 µm and surface finishes of 0.1 – 0.2 µm (Ra). For the machine: a guaranteed runout error of ≤ 0.1 µm on the hydrostatic main spindle, and 1 µm positioning with 0.2 µm repeatability on the hydrostatic guideways.
04
When the part or the ground surface is bigger. The MTG XLD turns up to 680 mm (26.8 in) and grinds within Ø260 x 350 mm (10.2 x 13.8 in), double the grinding diameter, in 7 m² (75 sqft). Grinding length is the same 350 mm on both.
05
A 3-jaw chuck, a magnetic chuck and a tool changer with or without live tooling. For long workpieces there are a tailstock and a steady rest. Measuring covers a part probe, tool measurement, a tool measurement camera system and tool life measurement. Stonefinishing is offered as an additional finishing option.
