Price estimate
We do not have a price for the You Ji YB55 that we can stand behind, so we show no number. Configuration, options and installation move the final price a long way: a quote is the reliable figure.
Overview
The You Ji YB55 is a CNC flat bed horizontal turning lathe with Ø1,400 mm (55.1 in) of swing over the bed and bed lengths for 3,000 to 8,000 mm (118.1 to 315.0 in) of turning length. It is a machine for long, heavy work: rolls, propeller shafts, drill pipe and cylinder barrels.
Two diameters matter on a flat bed. Over the bed the YB55 turns Ø1,100 mm (43.3 in). Over the cross slide, where a long shaft actually runs, the limit is Ø800 mm (31.5 in). A flange at the chuck end can use the larger figure; the body of the part has to clear the smaller one.
The headstock is chosen by bore. With the Ø152 mm (6 in) bore the spindle runs 1-1,000 rpm on an A2-15 nose. The Ø356 mm (14 in) bore brings 1-400 rpm and an A2-20 nose, and the Ø508 mm (20 in) bore 1-250 rpm on a Ø600 nose. All three use 3 speed steps and a 37/45 kW (49.6/60.3 hp) motor.
You Ji's model key then adds the tooling: an H8 hydraulic turret (H or HL), a V4 hydraulic turret (V or VL), both together (HV), a BMT power turret (HLC), or a Y-axis cross slide with a Capto power turret (YC). Six bed lengths are listed in one-metre steps, and machine length runs from 9,380 mm (369.3 in) to 14,380 mm (566.1 in) at a constant 4,000 mm (157.5 in) width. The tailstock quill travels 250 mm (9.8 in).

Strengths & Limitations
Strengths
- Six bed lengths from 3,000 to 8,000 mm (118.1 to 315.0 in) of turning length
- Three spindle bores listed: Ø152 mm (6 in), Ø356 mm (14 in) and Ø508 mm (20 in)
- Ø1,400 mm (55.1 in) swing over the bed for flanged ends and large chucks
- Turret choices up to a Y-axis cross slide with a Capto power turret (YC)
- 37/45 kW (49.6/60.3 hp) spindle motor with 3 speed steps
Limitations
- Turning diameter over the cross slide is Ø800 mm (31.5 in), well under the bed swing
- The Ø508 mm (20 in) bore headstock is limited to 250 rpm
- Machine length of 9,380 mm (369.3 in) for the shortest bed, 14,380 mm (566.1 in) for the longest
- The table gives no weight between centres and no steady rest capacity

Frequently Asked Questions
01
The number is the swing over the bed in inches: 55 stands for 1,400 mm. The rest of the designation adds the spindle bore, the turning length in six steps from 3,000 to 8,000 mm, and a letter code for the turret arrangement.
02
Ø1,100 mm (43.3 in) over the bed and Ø800 mm (31.5 in) over the cross slide. Swing is Ø1,400 mm (55.1 in) over the bed and Ø800 mm (31.5 in) over the cross slide. For a shaft that the carriage must pass along, plan on the cross slide figure.
03
Three are in the table. Ø152 mm (6 in) bore: 1-1,000 rpm, A2-15 nose. Ø356 mm (14 in) bore: 1-400 rpm, A2-20 nose. Ø508 mm (20 in) bore: 1-250 rpm, Ø600 nose. Each has 3 speed steps. The model key also names a 32 in (813 mm) bore, for which the table prints no speed.
04
The key lists H and HL (H8 hydraulic turret), V and VL (V4 hydraulic turret), HV (H8 plus V4 hydraulic turrets), HLC (BMT power turret) and YC (Y-axis cross slide with a Capto power turret). The spec table is common to all of them.
05
Only in the diameters and the machine's cross-section. The YB63 swings Ø1,600 mm (63.0 in) over the bed and turns Ø1,000 mm (39.4 in) over the cross slide. Bed lengths, bores, speeds and the 37/45 kW (49.6/60.3 hp) motor are the same on both.
