Overview
The DN Solutions T 4000 L is the long-bed variant of DN Solutions' compact tapping center lineup. The "L" means extended Y-axis — 700 mm (28 in) versus 520 mm on the standard T 4000 — which opens up this machine to longer parts and multi-part fixtures that the standard model can't accommodate. The table grows to 850 x 400 mm to match, giving you more real estate for fixturing without leaving the compact tapping center class.
The spindle runs at 12,000 RPM with 13 kW (17 hp) and 82.7 Nm of torque through a standard taper. That's a balanced spindle for general-purpose production work — enough speed for efficient aluminum machining, enough torque for drilling and tapping steel. The X and Z travels remain at 350 mm and 400 mm respectively, so the machine stays compact in the directions that matter for floor space. At 300 kg table load capacity, you can run heavier fixtures than the HS model allows.
The T 4000 L fits a specific production niche: shops making parts that are too long for the standard T 4000 but don't need (or can't justify) a full-size VMC. Think about long brackets, rails, cover plates, or multi-cavity fixtures holding several small parts in a row along the Y-axis. At 3,000 kg machine weight, installation is dead simple. The FANUC control makes programming and operation identical to the rest of the T 4000 family, so operators move between models without retraining.

Strengths & Limitations
Strengths
- 700 mm Y-axis travel accommodates longer parts and multi-part fixtures that the standard T 4000 can't handle
- 82.7 Nm spindle torque is significantly more than the HS model, enabling steel drilling and tapping alongside aluminum work
- 850 x 400 mm table provides generous fixturing space for the tapping center class
- Compact X and Z footprint keeps floor space requirements minimal despite the extended Y-axis
- 3,000 kg machine weight means hassle-free installation on standard shop floors
- Balanced 12,000 RPM spindle handles both aluminum speed work and steel production effectively
Limitations
- 350 mm X-travel remains compact — parts wider than about 300 mm need a full-size VMC
- 13 kW spindle power limits heavy milling capability compared to the T 4000 HP's 36 kW
- 400 mm Z-travel restricts tall parts and deep-cavity work
- Extended Y-axis adds cycle time on long traverses compared to the shorter standard models

Frequently Asked Questions
01
New T 4000 L machines run $50,000-$80,000 depending on options. The base machine starts around $50,000-$60,000. Adding through-spindle coolant, probing, chip conveyor, and automation interface pushes pricing to $70,000-$80,000. Pricing is similar to the standard T 4000 models with a small premium for the extended bed.
02
Both have the extended 700mm Y-axis travel. The T 4000 L runs a 12,000 RPM spindle with 13 kW and 82.7 Nm torque — a balanced general-purpose spindle. The T 4000 LHS runs at 24,000 RPM with 11 kW and 17.5 Nm — a high-speed aluminum spindle. Choose the L for mixed materials; choose the LHS for pure high-speed aluminum production.
03
For parts that fit within 350mm X-travel and 400mm Z-travel, yes. The extended 700mm Y-travel actually exceeds some small VMCs. The 82.7 Nm torque handles drilling and tapping in steel effectively. But for parts needing more X or Z travel, or for heavy milling operations, a DNM 4000 or DNM 4500 is the right choice.
04
The 850x400mm table with 700mm Y-travel accommodates significantly more parts than the standard 650x400mm table. For typical small production parts (50-75mm each), you can fit 8-12 parts in a multi-part fixture along the Y-axis, versus 4-6 on the standard model. That roughly doubles your parts-per-load without increasing cycle time proportionally.
