Overview
The DN Solutions BVM 5700 is a high-performance vertical machining center that takes the proven DNM 5700 travel envelope (1,050 x 570 mm X/Y) and drops in a significantly more powerful spindle — 37 kW (50 hp) at 15,000 RPM with 214 Nm (158 ft-lb) of torque. While the DNM series is a general-purpose workhorse, the BVM is built for shops that need both heavy roughing capability and high-speed finishing in a single machine.
The ISO 40 taper spindle delivering 50 hp and 15,000 RPM is a rare combination in this taper size. Most 40-taper machines force you to choose between torque and speed — the BVM 5700 delivers both. That means you can rough tool steel at aggressive feeds, then switch to a small-diameter endmill and finish at high surface speeds without running out of RPM. The 214 Nm of torque is nearly double the DNM 5700's 117.8 Nm.
Rapid traverse rates jump to 42 m/min on X and Y axes, 36 m/min on Z — faster than the DNM series' 36/36/30 m/min. The table matches the DNM 5700 at 1,300 x 570 mm (51 x 22 in) with 1,000 kg load capacity. Z-axis travel is 460 mm (18 in), slightly less than the DNM 5700's 510 mm. At 7,500 kg, the BVM 5700 weighs a full ton more than the DNM 5700, reflecting the heavier spindle assembly and enhanced rigidity. This is the machine for shops that need DNM reliability with a performance upgrade.

Strengths & Limitations
Strengths
- 37 kW (50 hp) spindle with 214 Nm torque delivers nearly double the cutting power of the standard DNM 5700 — handles heavy roughing in tool steel
- 15,000 RPM spindle speed enables high-speed finishing of mold surfaces and efficient aluminum machining without leaving the 40-taper platform
- 42 m/min rapid traverse on X and Y reduces non-cutting time and improves cycle times versus box-way alternatives
- Same proven DNM 5700 travel envelope (1,050 x 570 mm) and table size means existing fixturing transfers directly
- 7,500 kg machine weight with rigid construction provides stability for simultaneous heavy roughing and precision finishing
Limitations
- 460 mm Z-axis travel is 50 mm shorter than the DNM 5700's 510 mm — limits tall parts and deep cavities
- $130-180K price point is significantly more than the standard DNM 5700 ($80-120K) for the spindle upgrade
- 15,000 RPM spindle requires higher-quality balanced toolholders to prevent vibration at full speed
- Higher spindle power generates more heat — thermal management becomes more critical for tight-tolerance work

Frequently Asked Questions
01
New BVM 5700 machines run $130,000-$180,000 depending on options. The premium over the standard DNM 5700 ($80-120K) reflects the significantly upgraded spindle (50 hp vs 25 hp, 15K vs 8K RPM) and faster linear motion. Used machines are less common than DNM models.
02
The BVM 5700 has double the spindle power (50 vs 25 hp), nearly double the torque (214 vs 117.8 Nm), higher spindle speed (15K vs 8K RPM), and faster rapids (42 vs 36 m/min on X/Y). The DNM 5700 has more Z-travel (510 vs 460 mm) and lower cost. Choose the BVM for demanding materials and high-speed finishing; the DNM for general-purpose work.
03
Excellent for aluminum. The 15,000 RPM spindle provides the surface speed needed for efficient aluminum machining with small-diameter tools, and the 50 hp motor handles large-diameter face mills at aggressive feed rates. The 42 m/min rapids minimize non-cutting time in high-volume aluminum production.
04
The BVM 5700 uses linear roller guides, which is why it achieves 42 m/min rapids (vs the box-way DNM 5700's 36 m/min). Linear guides provide faster motion and better high-speed accuracy, while the 7,500 kg machine mass ensures rigidity during heavy cuts. The DNM series uses box ways for maximum heavy-cut rigidity at lower speeds.
