How much does the DATRON MLCube Pro cost?
Price estimate
We do not have a price for the DATRON MLCube Pro that we can stand behind, so we show no number. Configuration, options and installation move the final price a long way: a quote is the reliable figure.
Overview
The DATRON MLCube Pro takes the 1,520 x 1,150 x 245 mm (59.8 x 45.3 x 9.6 in) travels of the MLCube and fixes the tooling side to one specification: an HSK-E 25 spindle of 3.0 kW to 4.0 kW (4.0 hp to 5.4 hp) running to 40,000 rpm, loaded from a DATRON ToolAssist with 60 or 143 stations. There is no direct-shank spindle and no small integrated changer in this table.
That is the trade against the MLCube, which lists spindles from 1.8 kW (2.4 hp), a 60,000 rpm top speed and integrated changers from 5 stations. The Pro gives up the highest spindle speed and the entry-level configurations. It keeps the upper end of the power range in a holder-based interface, and a magazine sized for long tool lists comes as part of the specification.
The work envelope is 1,500 mm x 1,000 mm x 200 mm (59.1 in x 39.4 in x 7.9 in), with the Z figure being the portal passage. Loading is through automatic double doors that open to 1,699 mm (66.9 in), which is wider than the 1,500 mm X dimension of the envelope.
The operating terminal is a stand-alone unit: a 24-inch multi-touch screen with a hand-held control unit, adjustable in height and tilt. It occupies 800 mm x 710 mm (31.5 in x 28.0 in) of floor and stands 1,500 to 1,700 mm (59.1 to 66.9 in) tall. The machine dimensions of 4,500 mm x 2,430 mm x 2,140 mm (177.2 in x 95.7 in x 84.3 in) do not include it, so plan floor space for both. Weight is approximately 3,200 kg (7,055 lb), against approximately 2,500 kg (5,512 lb) for the MLCube.
Feed and rapid traverse are listed at up to 22 m/min (866 ipm). Three items are options and should be named in a quotation if wanted: the DATRON Axis4 for 3+1 work, the DATRON 3D probe and the integrated tool length sensor.

Strengths & Limitations
Strengths
- Every configuration has an HSK-E 25 spindle of at least 3.0 kW (4.0 hp), up to 4.0 kW (5.4 hp)
- The DATRON ToolAssist with 60 or 143 stations is the listed tool system, not an upgrade from a smaller changer
- Automatic double doors open to 1,699 mm (66.9 in) for loading wide stock
- Stand-alone 24-inch multi-touch terminal with adjustable height and tilt, placed separately from the machine
- Same 1,500 mm x 1,000 mm x 200 mm (59.1 in x 39.4 in x 7.9 in) work envelope as the MLCube
Limitations
- Top speed is 40,000 rpm; the MLCube lists up to 60,000 rpm
- No direct-shank spindle is listed, so every tool needs an HSK-E 25 holder
- The 4,500 mm x 2,430 mm (177.2 in x 95.7 in) machine footprint excludes the terminal, which takes a further 800 mm x 710 mm (31.5 in x 28.0 in)
- The integrated tool length sensor, the DATRON 3D probe and the DATRON Axis4 are options
- Portal passage of 200 mm (7.9 in) limits part and fixture height

Frequently Asked Questions
01
The travels are identical. The MLCube Pro is listed only with an HSK-E 25 spindle of 3.0 kW to 4.0 kW (4.0 hp to 5.4 hp) at up to 40,000 rpm and only with the DATRON ToolAssist, 60 or 143 stations. The MLCube also offers direct-shank spindles, power from 1.8 kW (2.4 hp), a 60,000 rpm top speed and integrated changers from 5 stations. The MLCube Pro additionally lists automatic double doors and a stand-alone terminal, and weighs approximately 3,200 kg (7,055 lb).
02
DATRON gives a door opening width of 1,699 mm (66.9 in) with the automatic double doors open. The work envelope measures 1,500 mm x 1,000 mm (59.1 in x 39.4 in) in X and Y, so the opening is wider than the longest side of the envelope. Height is the tighter limit: the portal passage is 200 mm (7.9 in).
03
Not according to the table. The spindle interface is listed as HSK-E 25 and the DATRON ToolAssist magazine is listed with HSK-E 25 as well, so budget for a holder per tool. Direct-shank tooling is listed for the MLCube, which has the same travels.
04
The machine itself measures 4,500 mm x 2,430 mm x 2,140 mm (177.2 in x 95.7 in x 84.3 in) without the operating terminal. The terminal is a separate stand of 800 mm x 710 mm (31.5 in x 28.0 in), 1,500 to 1,700 mm (59.1 to 66.9 in) tall depending on adjustment. The machine weighs approximately 3,200 kg (7,055 lb).
05
The table marks three: the integrated tool length sensor, the DATRON 3D probe for workpiece measurement, and the DATRON Axis4, which turns the 3-axis machine into a 3+1 configuration. Coolant is minimum-quantity lubrication with one 10-liter tank or two, through a 4-nozzle spray ring.
