Overview
The Citizen Miyano ABX-64THY2 is a three-turret, twin-spindle CNC turning centre for bar up to 64 mm (2.52 in), with a tool capacity of 36. Its main spindle runs to 4,000 rpm on 15/11 kW through a 65.5 mm (2.58 in) bore, and the opposed sub-spindle runs to 5,000 rpm on 7.5/5.5 kW. Citizen no longer lists it in the current lineup.
The third turret is what separates it from the Miyano ABX-64SYY2, which has two turrets and 24 tools on the same spindles. With three turrets, two tools can cut on the main spindle while the third works on the sub-spindle, or the extra stations simply hold the tools a complex part needs without a change-over between jobs. The cost is mass and Z speed: this machine weighs 11,350 kg (25,022 lb) and has a 20 m/min Z rapid, where the Miyano ABX-64SYY2 weighs 10,900 kg (24,030 lb) and moves Z at 30 m/min.
