Overview

The Sodick AL400G i Groove+ Edition is the standard-tier linear motor wire EDM in the 400mm X-travel class, offering 400 x 300 x 250 mm (15.75 x 11.81 x 9.84 in) X/Y/Z travel with a 500 kg (1,102 lb) flushing workpiece capacity. The AL400G shares the same rigid machine platform and four-axis linear motor drive system as the premium AL400P, but uses the Digital HF control generator rather than the Smart Pulse unit.

The four-axis linear motor drive system on X, Y, U, and V axes is identical to the premium AL400P. High-performance linear motors provide zero-backlash, frictionless positioning with no mechanical wear path. Glass scale feedback on all axes delivers closed-loop positioning. The 10-year positioning accuracy guarantee applies equally.

The Digital HF control delivers excellent surface finish quality and reliable cutting performance across materials and thicknesses. For many shops, the speed difference between the G and P generators is minutes per part.

The i Groove+ corner control and taper compensation system is standard. The +/-25 degree taper capability, 150 x 150 mm U/V travel, and 0.05-0.30 mm wire diameter range are identical to the AL400P.
