Price estimate
We do not have a price for the Campro NU 550 that we can stand behind, so we show no number. Configuration, options and installation move the final price a long way: a quote is the reliable figure.
Overview
Campro builds the NU 550 as a monoblock column 5-axis machining center: a one-piece column and base with a tilting rotary table of Ø550 mm (21.6 in). Travels are 940 mm (37 in) in X, 800 mm (31.4 in) in Y and 550 mm (21.6 in) in Z. The A axis swivels +30°~-120° and the C axis rotates 360°.
This is the model in the series with a real step up in spindle. Campro lists a 12,000 rpm I.D.D spindle with a 20 / 30 kW (40 HP) motor on a BBT-40 shank, where the NU 400C stays at 10,000 rpm and 11 / 15 kW (20 HP). The chain-type tool changer holds 32 tools as standard with 40 or 60 optional. Tool diameter is a little tighter than on the smaller machines: Ø75 mm (Ø2.9 in), or Ø127 mm (Ø5 in) with adjacent pockets empty.
Campro's description leans on the structure. It calls the layout a bridge design that lets large workpieces be machined in a smaller footprint with more rigidity than a standard C-frame, and says the tilting rotary table is supported by a double arm system. The table load is 300 / 250 kg (661 / 551 lb) (V / H) and the stated maximum workpiece is Ø550x350 mm.
Buyers should note that Campro offers both a 4+1 axis version and a 5-axis version. The first gives 4-axis simultaneous motion with positioning on the remaining axis; the second adds simultaneous control of all five. Which one is quoted matters for impeller or blade work.
Installation is on another scale from the C models: 11,000 kg (24,250 lb), a 4,100 × 3,650 mm (161 in x 143 in) floor plan, 3,300 mm (129 in) height and 50 kVA.

Strengths & Limitations
Strengths
- 12,000 rpm I.D.D spindle with 20 / 30 kW (40 HP), the strongest spindle among the trunnion NU models
- 940 mm (37 in) of X and 800 mm (31.4 in) of Y travel around a Ø550 mm (21.6 in) tilting rotary table
- 32-tool chain-type magazine as standard, 40 or 60 optional
- One-piece monoblock column and base, with the table supported by a double arm system
- Table load of 300 / 250 kg (661 / 551 lb) (V / H)
Limitations
- A / C rapid feedrate is 11.1 / 16.6 rpm, no faster than the NU 400C
- Maximum tool diameter drops to Ø75 mm (Ø2.9 in), from Ø80 mm (Ø3.1 in) on the NU 400C
- Needs 50 kVA and a floor rated for 11,000 kg (24,250 lb)
- Offered as a 4+1 axis version as well as a 5-axis version, so full simultaneous control has to be specified
- Z travel of 550 mm (21.6 in) is short next to 940 mm (37 in) of X

Frequently Asked Questions
01
Campro describes the NU 550 as having a one-piece Monoblock column and base structure, in a bridge design with a tilting rotary table. Its claim is that this allows large workpieces to be machined in a smaller footprint with increased rigidity compared to a standard C-frame design. The machine weighs 11,000 kg (24,250 lb).
02
Campro lists two versions. The 4+1 axis version gives 4-axis simultaneous motion with precise positioning on the remaining axis. The 5-axis version has simultaneous control, which Campro says allows tilted plane machining, cutter thin blade machining and intricate shapes. Confirm which version a quotation covers.
03
A 12,000 rpm I.D.D spindle with a 20 / 30 kW (40 HP) motor and a BBT-40 tool shank. Maximum tool diameter is Ø75 mm (Ø2.9 in), or Ø127 mm (Ø5 in) with adjacent pockets empty, maximum length 250 mm (9.8 in) and maximum weight 7 kg (15 lb).
04
Travels are 940 mm (37 in) in X, 800 mm (31.4 in) in Y and 550 mm (21.6 in) in Z, with 80~630 mm (3.1 in ~ 24.8 in) from spindle nose to table surface. The table is Ø550 mm (21.6 in) and carries 300 / 250 kg (661 / 551 lb) (V / H). Campro gives the maximum workpiece as Ø550x350 mm.
05
The standard chain-type automatic tool changer holds 32 tools, and Campro lists 40 and 60 tool magazines as options. With a 7 kg (15 lb) tool weight limit and 250 mm (9.8 in) maximum length, the changer is sized for 40-taper cutters, not heavy face mills.
