Overview

The Hartford HSA-636EA puts a 6,000 x 3,000 mm (236.2 x 118.1 in) table under a cross-beam with 3,600 mm (141.7 in) of Y travel. X travel is 6,000 mm (236.2 in), the table rating 24,000 kg (52,910 lb). It is a double-column five-face machine with linear guideways.

Both of Hartford's ballscrew support rules work in this model's favour. X support is standard because the machine is longer than 5 meters, and Y support is standard because it belongs to the HSA-x36 series. Buyers of the smaller or narrower models have to order one or both.

A table this large invites big single parts, but read the rating before planning the job: 24,000 kg is only 1,000 kg more than the narrower HSA-628EA carries. Large fabrications, mould frames and aluminium structures are comfortable here. A solid steel block covering the table is not.

Cutting is done by a #50 spindle, either a gear head at 6,000 rpm (8,000 rpm optional) or a 10,000 rpm hybrid, with 18.5 / 22 kW as standard and 30 / 35 kW optional. Automatic angular heads from the switching compartment handle the four sides, and Z travel is 1,000 mm or 1,200 mm.

Strengths & Limitations

Strengths

  • 6,000 x 3,000 mm (236.2 x 118.1 in) table with 3,600 mm (141.7 in) of Y travel
  • Ballscrew support standard on both X and Y, by Hartford's statements
  • 24,000 kg (52,910 lb) table load
  • Optional 30 / 35 kW spindle motor for heavier cuts

Limitations

  • Load rating is low relative to the table area
  • Base spindle speed is 6,000 rpm; 8,000 rpm and the 10,000 rpm hybrid are separate choices
  • Standard Z travel of 1,000 mm limits tall parts once an angular head is mounted
06

Best For

Large mould frames and fabricated structures up to 6,000 x 3,000 mm Aluminium tooling and jigs for aircraft and rail Wide parts requiring accurate Y positioning

Frequently Asked Questions

01 What size is the HSA-636EA table?

6,000 x 3,000 mm (236.2 x 118.1 in), with twenty-three T-slots and a load rating of 24,000 kg (52,910 lb). Travels are 6,000 mm in X and 3,600 mm (141.7 in) in Y.

02 Are the ballscrews supported on the HSA-636EA?

On both horizontal axes, according to Hartford. X axis support is standard for models above 5 meters and Y axis support is standard for the HSA-x36 series, and this six-metre x36 machine meets both conditions.

03 How does the HSA-636EA compare with the HSA-736EA?

The HSA-736EA is a metre longer: a 7,000 x 3,000 mm (275.6 x 118.1 in) table with a 27,000 kg (59,524 lb) rating. Y travel is 3,600 mm on both, and the spindle and magazine options are the same.

04 What spindle speeds does the HSA-636EA offer?

6,000 rpm from the standard gear head, 8,000 rpm from the optional gear head and 10,000 rpm from the hybrid spindle. All use the #50 taper with BT-50 shanks, and Hartford states spindle deflection is within 5 μm.
