Overview
The Campbell Grinder 1000L800 is the smaller version of the 1000LEAN, a CNC vertical grinder that Campbell builds in a standard size for job shops instead of engineering it to order. It grinds cylindrical parts up to 750 mm (29.5 in) in diameter and 865 mm (34.00 in) tall, with part and fixture weighing up to 910 kg (2,000 lbs).
Where Campbell's larger vertical grinders are configured around a customer's part, this one is fixed: a 14.9 kW (20 HP) grinding spindle running from 0 to 8,500 RPM, an HSK 80 tool connection and an automatic wheel changer for 6 tools as standard. Wheels are up to 305 mm in diameter and 50 mm wide, on arbors up to 203 mm (8.00 in) long. The wheel is dressed by a single-point diamond system.
Travels are 1,000 mm (39 in) in X and 865 mm (34 in) in Z. The B axis swivels the spindle through 135 degrees, infinitely variable, and the C axis table turns at 0-250 RPM in either direction and can position. That combination covers OD, ID, face and tapered features.
Much of the catalogue is about working at the machine. Dual access doors give 180° of access around the table, the machine can be loaded by crane or by forklift, and LED lighting and a washdown nozzle are built in. The base is a one-piece fabrication with an integrated floor pan, and the machine stands 137 in (3,480 mm) high. Controls are by Fanuc.

Mainly in X travel and table speed. The 1000L800 has 1,000 mm (39 in) of X travel and a C axis of 0-250 RPM. The 1000L1000 has 1,100 mm (43.5 in) of X travel and a C axis of 0-200 RPM. Spindle, tool changer, Z travel and part weight are the same in both columns of the table.

No. Campbell states that the machine comes standard in one size, with the rotary table and all linear axes sized specifically. The automatic wheel changer and the single-point diamond dressing system are standard, and the option list is short: rotary disk dresser, part probing, light turning, mag chuck and additional wheel arbors.
