Price estimate
We do not have a price for the BLM Group LT-FREE that we can stand behind, so we show no number. Configuration, options and installation move the final price a long way: a quote is the reliable figure.
Overview
Bent tube, hydroformed sections, extrusions and stamped sheet are the work of the BLM Group LT-FREE, an enclosed 5-axis fiber laser cell for parts that are already three-dimensional when they reach the laser. A CNC head on a 5-axis system does the cutting. A handling robot can present the part, and the fiber source is 2 kW - 3 kW - 4 kW.
This is a different job from a Lasertube's. Machines such as the LT7 cut straight bar before it is bent. The LT-FREE trims, pierces and slots the part afterwards, so hole positions are not shifted by the bending that follows. BLM presents the cell as a replacement for cutting, drilling, punching, milling and deburring, done as separate steps, with the part finished in a single work cycle.
Three configurations share the cutting system. The base cell has a dual fixed working table of 59 x 39 in (1,500 x 1,000 mm). SPLIT CABIN has two cutting zones fed by translating tables, listed as 2 for 118 x 39 in (3,000 x 1,000 mm), so one station is loaded while the head works at the other. TURN TABLE uses 1 rotary table, 118 in (3,000 mm), which suits long parts and larger batches.
Accuracy and repeatability are both ±0.002 in (0.05 mm). When a robot holds the part it can turn it in space between cuts, and BLM points out that this removes manual repositioning and the reconfiguring of fixed jigs. The head is narrow, which matters inside a bent assembly where a wide nozzle body would collide.
Installed power is 60 - 66 kW. The control is PC-based and listed as SIEMENS, with BLM's unified operator interface, and programs are prepared offline in ArGo, where the cycle can be simulated to obtain the cycle time before a part is loaded.

Strengths & Limitations
Strengths
- 5-axis CNC cutting head that reaches bent, hydroformed, extruded and stamped parts
- Three configurations: fixed tables, SPLIT CABIN with 2 cutting stations, or TURN TABLE with a rotary table
- Accuracy and repeatability of ±0.002 in (0.05 mm)
- Handling robot repositions the part, so fixed jigs need not be reconfigured
- Fiber source of 2 kW - 3 kW - 4 kW
- Offline programming and cycle simulation in ArGo
Limitations
- The base working table is 59 x 39 in (1,500 x 1,000 mm); longer parts need the SPLIT CABIN or TURN TABLE version
- Installed power of 60 - 66 kW has to be available where the cell is installed
- Does not load or cut straight bar from a bundle; that remains Lasertube work
- Each part family needs a fixture or a robot gripping position to be set up before cutting

Frequently Asked Questions
01
Three-dimensional ones. BLM lists bent, hydroformed, extruded and drawn sections, and flat or stamped tubes and sheets. The 5-axis head cuts features into the formed part, where a tube laser such as the LT7 would cut straight stock before forming.
02
There are three. LT-FREE has a working table of 59 x 39 in (1,500 x 1,000 mm). LT-FREE SPLIT CABIN has working tables listed as 2 for 118 x 39 in (3,000 x 1,000 mm), in two cutting zones. LT-FREE TURN TABLE has 1 rotary table, 118 in (3,000 mm). The split and turn-table versions let loading and unloading overlap with cutting.
03
The technical table gives an accuracy of ±0.002 in (0.05 mm) and the same figure, ±0.002 in (0.05 mm), for repeatability. The head moving system has 5 axes and the enclosure is rated Class C1.
04
It holds and repositions the part in space during the cycle. BLM states that this eliminates manual repositioning and the reconfiguration of fixed jigs, and that the robot's six degrees of freedom, added to the 5-axis head, let the beam reach anywhere on the workpiece. The cell can be equipped with 2 robots.
05
The control is PC-based and listed as SIEMENS, with the unified BLM GROUP operator interface. Installed power is 60 - 66 kW. The fiber laser source is offered at 2 kW - 3 kW - 4 kW.
