Price estimate
We do not have a price for the AWEA AF-1000 that we can stand behind, so we show no number. Configuration, options and installation move the final price a long way: a quote is the reliable figure.
Overview
The AWEA AF-1000 is a BT40 vertical machining center with 1,020 mm (40.2 in) of X travel, 550 mm (21.7 in) of Y and 635 mm (25.0 in) of Z. It sits on the same specification sheet as the two smallest AF-II machines, and it reads as their larger relative: same 0.006 mm positioning accuracy, same direct-drive 12,000 rpm spindle, more room in every axis.
Z is the figure that stands out. At 635 mm (25.0 in) it is the longest Z stroke in the AF range below the MAX models, and the spindle nose can sit anywhere from 100 to 735 mm (3.9 ~ 28.9 in) above the table. Tall fixtures, tombstone-style plates on a rotary table and deep mold cavities that need long tools all benefit. The table is 1,200 x 550 mm (47.2 x 21.7 in) with five 18 mm T-slots and takes 700 kg (1,543 lb).
What the AF-1000 trades away is pace. X and Y rapids are 36 m/min (1,417 ipm) and Z is 24 m/min (945 ipm). The AF-1060II, close in X travel at 1,060 mm (41.7 in), moves at 48 m/min (1,890 ipm) in X and Y and adds Y travel to 650 mm (25.6 in), though its listed positioning accuracy is 0.008 mm. So the two near-identical sizes point at different work: the AF-1000 at tighter tolerance and height, the AF-1060II at width and speed.
The spindle motor is rated 11 / 15 kW (14.8 / 20.1 hp). A 24-tool arm type changer, the FANUC Oi - MF PLUS control and chip augers are part of the machine as AWEA describes it. It needs 30 kVA and weighs 7,000 kg (15,432 lb).

Strengths & Limitations
Strengths
- 635 mm (25.0 in) of Z travel and up to 735 mm between spindle nose and table, the tallest daylight among the non-MAX AF models
- Positioning accuracy of 0.006 mm and repeatability of 0.005 mm (ISO230-2), matching the two smallest AF-II machines
- 1,200 x 550 mm (47.2 x 21.7 in) table rated for 700 kg (1,543 lb)
- Direct-drive 12,000 rpm BT40 spindle with an 11 / 15 kW (14.8 / 20.1 hp) motor
- Solid 7,000 kg (15,432 lb) machine weight for its travel class
Limitations
- Rapids of 36 m/min (1,417 ipm) in X and Y are slower than the 48 m/min (1,890 ipm) of the AF-1060II
- Y travel is 550 mm (21.7 in), 100 mm short of the AF-1060II
- BT40 only in AWEA's table; the BT50 option starts with the AF-1060II
- Tool weight is capped at 7 kg (15 lb), which rules out heavy face mills and long boring bars

Frequently Asked Questions
01
Z travel is 635 mm (25.0 in), and the distance from spindle nose to table top ranges over 100 ~ 735 mm (3.9 ~ 28.9 in). Maximum tool length is 250 mm (9.8 in), so with the longest tool in the spindle there is still room for a tall part or fixture underneath.
02
They overlap in X travel but differ elsewhere. The AF-1000 has 550 mm (21.7 in) of Y, 635 mm (25.0 in) of Z, 36 m/min (1,417 ipm) X and Y rapids and 0.006 mm positioning accuracy. The AF-1060II has 650 mm (25.6 in) of Y, 610 mm (24.0 in) of Z, 48 m/min (1,890 ipm) rapids, 0.008 mm positioning accuracy and a BT50 option. Pick by part width, height and tolerance.

The listed power requirement is 30 kVA, with a pneumatic supply of 6 kg/cm². The coolant tank holds 360 liter. AWEA says an optional high pressure coolant chips flush system is available, and that chip augers are fitted across the series in single or triple configurations depending on the model.
