Overview

Torque defines the Anger Machining Meteor 1500 (A100). Its HSK-A100 spindle is rated 200/320 Nm and 42/65 kW (S1/S6-30%) at up to 12,000 rpm, which puts large cutters and heavy drilling within reach on a horizontal machine built for structural parts.

The frame is the Meteor 1500: a workpiece carrier on a dual-drive A-axis with a swing of up to Ø1,500 mm and a part length of 1,600 mm. On this version the A-axis takes 800 kg (1,764 lb). Linear travels are 1,550 mm (61.0 in) in X, 800 mm (31.5 in) in Y and 630 mm (24.8 in) in Z, slightly less in X and Y than the Meteor 1500 (A63), and the machine stands taller at 4,200/5,560/3,700 mm (L/W/H).

Tool capacity is given as 26 (26+26), which reads as a second magazine of the same size as an option. Each tool may weigh 16 kg, be 510 mm long and 230 mm in diameter. Chip-to-chip time is 4.2 s.

Rapids are 70/60/80 m/min, with accelerations of 10/15/15 m/s² on X/Y/Z. That is slower in X and Y than the A63 machine, the usual trade for a bigger spindle. For subframes and carrier parts that need large bores or heavy milling, this is the version to look at; for thin-wall aluminium at high speed the 18,000 rpm Meteor 1500 (A63) is the better fit.

A B-axis is optional, the control is Siemens or Fanuc, and through-spindle coolant is available up to 120 bar. The machine weighs 25,000 kg (55,115 lb).

Strengths & Limitations

Strengths

  • Spindle torque of 200/320 Nm (S1/S6-30%) on an HSK-A100 interface
  • 42/65 kW of spindle power at up to 12,000 rpm
  • A-axis load of 800 kg (1,764 lb)
  • Tools up to 16 kg, 510 mm long and 230 mm in diameter
  • Swing diameter up to Ø1,500 mm with an optional B-axis

Limitations

  • Rapids of 70/60/80 m/min are below the 90/80/80 m/min of the Meteor 1500 (A63)
  • X and Y travel are 1,550 mm and 800 mm, less than the 1,600 mm and 900 mm of the Meteor 1500 (A63)
  • Top speed is 12,000 rpm, so small tools in aluminium run below their best cutting speed
  • Weighs 25,000 kg and is 3,700 mm high
06

Best For

Heavy milling and large-diameter boring in structural parts Workpieces and fixtures up to 800 kg on the A-axis Subframes and carrier systems up to 1,600 mm long Deep-hole drilling with coolant up to 120 bar

Frequently Asked Questions

01 How much torque and power does the A100 spindle deliver?

The table gives 200/320 Nm and 42/65 kW as S1/S6-30% ratings, at a rotational speed of 12,000 rpm. In its feature text Anger summarises the option as HSK-A100, up to 12,000 rpm, 42/65 kW and 320 Nm.

02 What does the tool capacity 26 (26+26) mean?

That is how the table prints it. The standard figure is 26 tools, and the bracket shows 26+26, which reads as a second set of 26 pockets. The datasheet does not explain the bracket further, so confirm the magazine arrangement with Anger before ordering.

03 What load can the A-axis carry?

800 kg (1,764 lb) on this version, against 500 kg on the Meteor 1500 (A63). The A-axis has a dual-drive system according to Anger, and the maximum part size is 1,600/Ø1,500 mm for both versions.

04 How fast are the axes?

Maximum speed is 70/60/80 m/min on X/Y/Z, with accelerations of 10/15/15 m/s². Anger describes the X-axis as linear-driven. Repeatability is stated as ±0.003 mm as per VDI 3441 / VDI 2617, and chip-to-chip time as 4.2 s.

05 Does the Meteor 1500 (A100) need more space than the A63 version?

The footprint is the same and the height differs. This version measures 4,200/5,560/3,700 mm (L/W/H) and weighs 25,000 kg (55,115 lb); the Meteor 1500 (A63) is 3,550 mm high and weighs 22,000 kg. Both run on 3x380 V.
