Overview

The Anderson VMC-2076 is the largest of Anderson's 760 mm Y vertical machining centers. X travel reaches 2,000 mm (78.7 in), the table is 2,100 x 760 mm (82.7 x 29.9 in) and the table load is 2,400 kg (5,291 lb). Anderson calls it the largest model of the group, with 2000mm of X-axis travel for maximum capacity.

Two metres of X on a C-frame vertical is a long reach for a single column, and the proportions say what the machine is for. The work area is more than two and a half times as long as it is deep. Rails, extrusions, long plates, manifold bars and gang fixtures fit that shape. Square or bulky workpieces do not use it well, and at 760 mm (29.9 in) of Y a bridge-type machine is the better answer for those.

Mass and size grow with the bed. The machine weighs 10,000 kg (22,046 lb) and is 5,440 mm long, on the same 3,470 mm width and 3,190 mm height as its shorter siblings. The coolant tank is 520 L. Z travel remains 700 mm (27.6 in).

The spindle specification is shared with the rest of the family, so it has to be read as a list of choices: ISO 40 or optional ISO 50, 8,000 rpm with higher speeds listed, 11/15 kW with a 15/18.5 alternative, belt drive with direct and gearbox variants. For long steel parts taking heavy face-mill cuts, the ISO 50 and gearbox entries are the ones to ask about. Tool changes take 2.5 sec tool-to-tool and 4.8 sec chip-to-chip, and the arm-type changer rotates in both directions. The control is FANUC 0i-MF Plus with a swivelling operator panel.

Strengths & Limitations

Strengths

  • 2,000 mm (78.7 in) of X travel, the longest in this family
  • 2,400 kg (5,291 lb) table load on a 2,100 x 760 mm (82.7 x 29.9 in) table
  • ISO 50 taper and gearbox transmission are listed as alternatives for heavier cutting
  • 520 L coolant tank, the largest of the three sizes
  • Arm-type tool changer with bi-directional random selection

Limitations

  • Y travel of 760 mm (29.9 in) is narrow against 2,000 mm of X
  • Heaviest and longest of the three: 10,000 kg (22,046 lb) and 5,440 mm
  • Standard rapids of 24/24/24 m/min make long X moves slow compared with the 30/30/24 alternative
  • Standard magazine is 24 tools; larger magazines are listed as alternatives
06

Best For

Long, narrow parts such as rails, bars and extrusions Gang fixtures with many parts along a 2,100 mm table Workpieces up to 2,400 kg (5,291 lb) Heavy milling when ordered with the ISO 50 spindle

Frequently Asked Questions

01 What is the X travel of the VMC-2076?

2,000 mm (78.7 in), with 760 mm (29.9 in) of Y and 700 mm (27.6 in) of Z. The table measures 2,100 x 760 mm (82.7 x 29.9 in) and the working area 2,000 x 760 mm (78.7 x 29.9 in).

02 How much weight can the VMC-2076 table carry?

2,400 kg (5,291 lb), the highest of the three sizes. The VMC-1876 is rated for 2,100 kg (4,630 lb) and the VMC-1676 for 1,800 kg (3,968 lb). Include fixtures, vises and any rotary table in the total.

03 Can the VMC-2076 be ordered with an ISO 50 spindle?

The spindle taper row reads ISO 40 with ISO 50 optional, and the transmission row lists belt with direct and gearbox variants. The table does not state the speed or the magazine that go with ISO 50 on this page, so those details should be requested with the quotation.

04 How fast are the axes of the VMC-2076?

Rapid traverse is 24/24/24 m/min, with 30/30/24 listed in brackets as an alternative, and the cutting feed rate is 12,000 mm/min. Over 2,000 mm of X travel the rapid rate has a visible effect on cycle time when the tool moves between distant features.
