GF Machining Mikron MILL E 700 U

The Mikron MILL E 700 U is the larger MILL E U machine: a 5-axis C-frame machining center with 700 × 600 × 500 mm of travel, a T-slot table Ø630 mm and a 450 kg table load. It is also the one of the pair with a choice of spindle, which is the first thing to settle when ordering.

The spindle row lists two options. One is a 12,000 rpm ISO40 spindle with a BT40 interface; the table's power and torque entries for it are run together, so get them from GF in writing. The other is the 20,000 rpm HSK-A63 spindle rated 36 kW and 120 Nm, the same unit the MILL E 500 U carries. The BT40 version lets a shop keep its existing 40-taper holders; the HSK-A63 version has the speed for finishing small features in hardened material.

The Mikron MILL E 500 U, its smaller sibling, has 500 × 450 × 400 mm of travel, a T-slot table Ø500 mm and a 300 / 200 kg load; this machine steps up to 700 × 600 × 500 mm, a T-slot table Ø630 mm and 450 kg. The pallet options stay the same: System 3R Dynafix 350x350, Erowa UPC 320x320 mm, System 3R Delphin 400x400 and Erowa MTS 400x400 mm. On a pallet, the larger travels mostly buy tool clearance around the part rather than a bigger part.

The kinematics match the smaller model. The swivel covers -65° / +120° and the rotary turns n x 360°, both on direct torque drives with no mechanical transmission, at 32 rpm and 112 rpm. Linear feed is 30 m/min. The magazine holds 30, 60 or 170 tools and the control is a Heidenhain TNC 640.
