Price estimate
We do not have a price for the You Ji YV250 that we can stand behind, so we show no number. Configuration, options and installation move the final price a long way: a quote is the reliable figure.
Overview
With a 10 in (254 mm) chuck and Ø350 mm (13.8 in) of turning diameter, the You Ji YV250 is the second size in the YV family of CNC vertical turning lathes. Turning height is 250 mm (9.8 in) and the swing is Ø500 mm (19.7 in).
Place it next to the YV200 and the floor plan barely changes. The YV250 occupies 2,950 x 1,530 mm (116.1 x 60.2 in), the same depth and only slightly more length than the YV200 at 2,880 x 1,530 mm (113.4 x 60.2 in). What the extra chuck size buys is a larger turning diameter and a table load of 300 kg (661 lb). What it gives up is top speed: 50-2,500 rpm here against 3,500 rpm on the YV200, from the same 11/15 kW (14.8/20.1 hp) motor.
This is also the widest tooling choice at the small end of the range. You Ji's model key starts the vertical type turret (A) at the 250, and the gang tool (B), horizontal turret (E) and horizontal VDI power turret (E+C) versions all cover it as well. The live-tool vertical power turret (C) begins one size up, and automatic tool changers begin at the 500.
For a shop turning brake discs, pulleys or gear blanks in volume, the question is usually whether the parts fit the YV250 or need the 15 in (381 mm) chuck of the YV500, which is a far larger machine. Height is 2,480 mm (97.6 in), so standard-height buildings are no obstacle.

Strengths & Limitations
Strengths
- Ø350 mm (13.8 in) turning diameter on a footprint of 2,950 x 1,530 mm (116.1 x 60.2 in)
- Four tooling builds in the maker's key: vertical turret (A), gang tool (B), horizontal turret (E) and VDI power turret (E+C)
- 300 kg (661 lb) table load, half as much again as the YV200's 200 kg (441 lb)
- 50-2,500 rpm range suits cast iron and steel discs of this diameter
Limitations
- Top speed of 2,500 rpm is lower than the 3,500 rpm of the YV200 with the same 11/15 kW (14.8/20.1 hp) motor
- Turning height of 250 mm (9.8 in) limits it to short, disc-shaped parts
- No automatic tool changer build: the maker's key lists ATC from the 500 upward

Frequently Asked Questions
01
The YV250 has a 10 in (254 mm) chuck, Ø350 mm (13.8 in) turning diameter, 250 mm (9.8 in) turning height and a 300 kg (661 lb) table load. The YV200 has an 8 in (203 mm) chuck, Ø250 mm (9.8 in), 200 mm (7.9 in) and 200 kg (441 lb). The motor is the same; the YV200 spindle reaches 3,500 rpm, the YV250 2,500 rpm.
02
Yes. You Ji's model key lists the vertical type turret (A) from the 250 to the 1600 and the horizontal type turret (E) from the 200 to the 800, so both apply. A horizontal VDI power turret (E+C) and a gang tool arrangement (B) are also listed for this size.
03
The table lists a spindle motor of 11/15 kW (14.8/20.1 hp) and a speed range of 50-2,500 rpm. The chuck size is 10 in (254 mm). The table does not state the spindle nose or the torque, so ask You Ji for the torque curve if the work is heavy roughing.
04
Floor dimension is 2,950 x 1,530 mm (116.1 x 60.2 in) and machine height is 2,480 mm (97.6 in). The catalogue table gives no machine weight, so the foundation load has to come from You Ji's layout drawing.
