Overview

The Yasda YBM Vi50 is a vertical 5-axis machine that Yasda introduces as its latest, with a newly designed structure aimed at accurate machining of bigger workpieces. Its travels are unusual in their proportions: 720 mm (28.3 in) in X, 1,100 mm (43.3 in) in Y and 500 mm (19.7 in) in Z.

A Y travel longer than X is the detail to think about. On a vertical 5-axis machine a long travel in one direction is normally there so the spindle can follow a large part as the rotary axes move it, so the layout points to larger workpieces than the YBM Vi40 handles with its 900 mm, 500 mm and 450 mm travels. Yasda publishes no table size, load or rotary axis ranges on the product page, and those are the first figures to request.

The spindle runs 100-24,000 min-1 with a MAS BT40 taper, listed as a BIG plus spindle, and HSK-A63 is optional. The magazine holds 60 tools, with 100 tools as the option. The control is a FANUC 31i-B5 Plus with iHMI, and the machine is 3,612 mm (142.2 in) high.
