Price estimate
We do not have a price for the WardJet L-3018 that we can stand behind, so we show no number. Configuration, options and installation move the final price a long way: a quote is the reliable figure.
Overview
The WARDJet L-3018 is a linear-drive, water-only waterjet that traverses at up to 7000 in/min (178 m/min). The cutting area is 120" x 72" (3.05 m x 1.83 m), and WARDJet positions it as the L-3025's speed in a slightly smaller envelope and footprint.
Linear motors change the usual trade between speed and accuracy. The J-128 reaches 2500 in/min with a rack and pinion at ± 0.010" per axis (± 0.25 mm per axis). This machine lists ± 0.003" per axis (± 0.08 mm per axis) and ± 0.001" per axis (± 0.03 mm per axis) repeatability, the same figures as WARDJet's ballscrew tables, at several times their speed.
It is a production line more than a table. A full chain feed with configurable infeed and offload lets loading, cutting and unloading happen at once, and the footprint of 37' 7" x 12' 3" (11.48 m x 3.76 m) reflects that. WARDJet lists optical eyes, guillotine doors and chain-fed loading tables as additions that make the L-3018 fully automated, inside a full safety surround.
The cross beam takes up to 4 Z-carriages, and multiple heads or 5-Axis heads can share it. Z-axis travel is 12" (0.30 m). Note the supply: 460V 30 amps, Three Phase for the gantry, where the J-128 gantry lists 230V 30 amps, Three Phase.

Strengths & Limitations
Strengths
- Linear drive with a speed range of 0.01 in/min - 7000 in/min (0.25 mm/min - 178 m/min)
- ± 0.003" per axis (± 0.08 mm per axis) accuracy at that speed
- Full chain feed for loading, cutting and offloading at the same time
- Up to 4 Z-carriages, including 5-Axis heads on the same cross beam
- Full safety surround as a series feature
Limitations
- Gantry supply is 460V 30 amps, Three Phase
- Footprint of 37' 7" x 12' 3" (11.48 m x 3.76 m) for a 120" x 72" (3.05 m x 1.83 m) cutting area
- Water-only; no abrasive hopper is listed
- Access doors and tank ladders are optional

Frequently Asked Questions
01
The speed row reads 0.01 in/min - 7000 in/min (0.25 mm/min - 178 m/min). WARDJet attributes this to the L-Series linear drive system, and says the L-3018 has the same cutting speed as the L-3025.
02
120" x 72" (3.05 m x 1.83 m) for one carriage, with 12" (0.30 m) of Z-axis travel. The footprint is 37' 7" x 12' 3" (11.48 m x 3.76 m), most of it taken by the chain feed and its infeed and offload sections.
03
Envelope. The L-3025 has a 3.05 m x 2.53 m cutting area in a 37' 1" x 15' (11.32 m x 4.57 m) footprint. Speed, accuracy, drive type, Z travel and the limit of 4 Z-carriages are the same in both tables.
04
It is designed toward that. WARDJet says the L-Series can be configured for single button, continuous operation, and that optical eyes, guillotine doors and chain-fed loading tables make the L-3018 a fully automated system. Those items are added features.
