WardJet H-2040 — price

Price estimate: uncertain

We have no price for the WardJet H-2040 that we can cite and no estimate we can stand behind, so this page shows no number rather than a guess. A quote from WardJet or an authorised dealer is the reliable figure.

What moves the final price

  • Spindle, control and probing options
  • Tool changer capacity and tooling package
  • Automation — pallet changers, bar feeders, robot cells
  • Freight, rigging, installation and training
  • Region, dealer and time of year

Overview

The WARDJet H-2040 is the largest water-only H-Series machine. Its cutting area is 80" x 145" (2 m x 3.7 m), wide enough for 2 m roll and sheet stock, and WARDJet describes the tank as designed to reduce wetting of the material and to make removal of cutting waste easy.

Wetting matters more as parts get larger. Foam, fiber board and insulation soak up water that splashes back from the tank, and a part that leaves the machine wet has to be dried before it ships. The H-Series answer is a sloped, stainless steel tank bottom and washdown valves that keep water moving toward a drain at the back instead of standing under the work.

The gantry is the same ballscrew design as the smaller sizes. Positional accuracy is ± 0.003" per axis (± 0.08 mm per axis), repeatability ± 0.001" per axis (± 0.03 mm per axis), and the metric speed range is 0.25 mm/min - 22.9 m/min. Z-axis travel is 10" (0.25 m). Up to two Z-carriages are supported.

At 9' 4" x 17' 8" (2.87 m x 5.42 m) the footprint is close to that of the abrasive X-2040, whose cutting area is 80" x 157.2" (2.03 m x 4 m). Buyers who need more heads or automatic feeding for water-only work should compare the J-106, which lists 4 Z-carriages and a chain feed system.

Strengths & Limitations

Strengths

  • 80" x 145" (2 m x 3.7 m) cutting area, the largest in the H-Series
  • Tank designed to reduce wetting of the material and to remove waste easily
  • Ballscrew in all axes: ± 0.003" per axis (± 0.08 mm per axis) accuracy
  • Loading from all sides thanks to the elevated rail design

Limitations

  • Two Z-carriages at most, on a table 80" wide
  • Top speed of 22.9 m/min is far below the 63.5 m/min of the rack-driven J-106
  • Water-only; abrasive work at this size is the X-2040's job
  • No chain feed: material is loaded by hand or passed through
06

Best For

Wide sheet and roll goods up to 80" across Absorbent materials where wetting has to be kept down Large gaskets, insulation panels and foam packaging

Frequently Asked Questions

01 How large is the H-2040's cutting area?

80" x 145" (2 m x 3.7 m) with one carriage, and 10" (0.25 m) of Z-axis travel. The footprint is listed as 9' 4" x 17' 8" (2.87 m x 5.42 m).

02 Why does the H-2040 have a sloped tank?

WARDJet states that the bottom of the sloped tank is made of solid stainless steel and designed specifically for water-only cutting. The slope and washdown valves focus water to a central point at the back of the tank, where wastewater is collected and fed to a drain.

03 How fast does the H-2040 move?

The metric speed range is 0.25 mm/min - 22.9 m/min. For comparison, the J-106 lists 0.25 mm/min - 63.5 m/min on a rack and pinion drive, at a looser accuracy of ± 0.010" per axis (± 0.25 mm per axis).

04 What supply does the H-2040 gantry need?

230V 30 amps, Three Phase, and compressed air at 80 psi, 2 cfm (5.52 bar, 0.06 cmm). The row is labelled for the gantry only, which leaves the pump to be planned separately. Software is MOVE and WARDCAM.
