Overview

The WARDJet A-1212 is an enclosed abrasive waterjet with a square 49" x 49" (1.25 m x 1.25 m) cutting area, the larger of the two A-Series sizes. It stands on 5.8' x 7.6' (1.75 m x 2.31 m) of floor, and WARDJet calls the A-Series its most compact waterjet cutting system.

A square table changes what can be loaded. Where the A-0612 offers 24" x 48" (0.62 m x 1.22 m), this machine takes a blank that is roughly as wide as it is long, so square plate offcuts, tiles and panels go on without being cut down first. The Z-axis is the same 4" (0.10 m) on both, and both carry a single Z-carriage.

WARDJet builds the series around operator comfort and cleanliness: a cutting enclosure for reduced splash and noise, a work surface at a comfortable height, and a MOVE touchscreen controller. Move software is included as standard and supports drag-and-drop part loading and part queueing, with WARDCAM listed beside it. An air compartment for controlling water level is an option, and it allows cutting under water.

Motion comes from a helical rack and pinion with a repeatability of ± 0.002" per axis (± 0.05 mm per axis) and a top speed of 500 in/min. The imperial accuracy figure is ± 0.003" per 3ft. per axis. Check the utilities early: the pump wants 208-230V or 460V, Three Phase, separate from the machine's 200-240VAC single-phase feed.

Strengths & Limitations

Strengths

  • Square 49" x 49" (1.25 m x 1.25 m) cutting area inside a 5.8' x 7.6' (1.75 m x 2.31 m) footprint
  • Move software is included as standard, with drag-and-drop part loading and part queueing
  • Enclosed cutting area for reduced splash and noise
  • Rack and pinion drive, which WARDJet contrasts with belt systems that slip, stretch and expand with heat
  • Machine supply is 200-240VAC, Single Phase, 20FLA

Limitations

  • Only 4" (0.10 m) of Z-axis travel
  • Limited to one Z-carriage, so every part is cut by a single head
  • Repeatability of ± 0.002" per axis (± 0.05 mm per axis) is looser than the ± 0.001" per axis (± 0.03 mm per axis) listed for the X-1515
  • Water level control by air compartment is optional, not part of the base machine

Best For

Square blanks, tiles and panels up to 49" x 49" (1.25 m x 1.25 m) Businesses with limited floor space that still cut metal, composites or stone Laboratory settings that need an enclosed machine Operators new to waterjet who want a touchscreen workflow

Frequently Asked Questions

01 What is the difference between the A-1212 and the A-0612?

Table size. The A-1212 has a 49" x 49" (1.25 m x 1.25 m) cutting area and a 5.8' x 7.6' (1.75 m x 2.31 m) footprint. The A-0612 has a 24" x 48" (0.62 m x 1.22 m) cutting area and a 3.8' x 7.6' (1.14 m x 2.31 m) footprint. Z travel, drive, hopper, software and supply figures are the same in both tables.

02 What software does the A-1212 run?

The table lists Move and WARDCAM. WARDJet states that Move is included as standard with the A-Series and features drag-and-drop part loading and part queueing, operated from a MOVE touchscreen controller.

03 Can the A-1212 cut under water?

It can when the optional air compartment is fitted. WARDJet says the A-Series is designed with an optional air compartment for controlling water level, so confirm that this option is on the quotation if quiet submerged cutting matters to you.

04 What materials is the A-1212 meant for?

WARDJet states that the A-Series can cut any material from titanium to carbon fiber to concrete. The practical limits are the 49" x 49" (1.25 m x 1.25 m) cutting area and the 4" (0.10 m) of Z-axis travel.
