Price estimate
We do not have a price for the WardJet X-2040 that we can stand behind, so we show no number. Configuration, options and installation move the final price a long way: a quote is the reliable figure.
Overview
The WARDJet X-2040 widens the X-Series table to 80" and stretches it to 157.2": a cutting area of 80" x 157.2" (2.03 m x 4 m) on a ballscrew-driven gantry. Footprint is 9' 4" x 17' 8" (2.87 m x 5.44 m) and Z-axis travel is 12" (0.30 m).
Width is the reason to choose it. Plate that is too wide for the 60" beam of the X-1515 and X-1530 fits here, and the 4 m length leaves room behind a standard sheet for a second, smaller blank or for remnants. WARDJet's own claim for the model is that it handles industrial-sized jobs with the same speed and accuracy as a smaller format waterjet, and the table bears that out: the speed range is still 0.01 in/min - 900 in/min and repeatability is ±0.001" per axis (± 0.03 mm per axis).
That consistency comes from the construction WARDJet describes for the series: a structural aluminum cross beam with an internal series of channels and supports, and ballscrews on all axes.
The X-2040 carries up to two Z-carriages, fed from a SmartFeed 400/ Axxiom 1000lb Hopper (450kg). Services for the gantry are 230V 30 amps, Three Phase and 80 psi, 2 cfm (5.52 bar, 0.06 cmm). If the work is water-only cutting of soft material, the H-2040 is the sloped-tank counterpart with an 80" x 145" (2 m x 3.7 m) cutting area.

Strengths & Limitations
Strengths
- 80" x 157.2" (2.03 m x 4 m) cutting area for plate too wide for the X-1530
- Keeps the series' ± 0.03 mm per axis repeatability and 900 in/min top speed at the larger size
- 12" (0.30 m) Z-axis travel
- Structural aluminum cross beam and ballscrew drive in all axes
- Up to 2 Z-carriages with a 1000lb (450kg) bulk abrasive hopper
Limitations
- Needs 9' 4" x 17' 8" (2.87 m x 5.44 m) of floor before pump and abrasive equipment are placed
- Two Z-carriages is the ceiling; the Z-2043 lists 7 on a similar-length table
- Gantry-only power figure, and no pump data in the table

Frequently Asked Questions
01
The one-carriage X-Y cutting area is 80" x 157.2" (2.03 m x 4 m). Z-axis travel is 12" (0.30 m). The machine itself occupies 9' 4" x 17' 8" (2.87 m x 5.44 m).
02
Not by the table. Speed is listed as 0.01 in/min - 900 in/min and repeatability as ±0.001" per axis (± 0.03 mm per axis), and the X-1515 lists the same 900 in/min and ± 0.001" per axis (± 0.03 mm per axis).
03
Both are 157.2" long. The X-2540 is wider, with a 98.2" x 157.2" (2.5 m x 4 m) cutting area and an 11' 9" x 18' 1" (3.61 m x 5.5 m) footprint, against 80" x 157.2" (2.03 m x 4 m) here.
04
With an upgrade. WARDJet states that the X-Series can be upgraded with its 5-Axis waterjet cutting head, which allows complex 3D shapes and taper angle control. The standard table lists up to 2 Z-carriages.
