Overview

The Victor Taichung Vcenter-G105 is a 50-taper box-way vertical machining center for heavy cutting. It has a gearhead BBT-50 spindle at 6,000 rpm with 15 / 18 kW (20 / 25 HP), box slideways on all axes, and travels of 1,050 mm (41.33 in), 600 mm (23.62 in) and 600 mm (23.62 in).

Every choice in it favours stiffness over speed. A gear-driven spindle multiplies torque at low rpm for face mills and large drills. Box slideways damp the cut better than linear guides. The ballscrews are Ø50mm. The machine weighs 10,000 kg (22,046.19 lb), a good deal for a metre of X travel.

The table is 1,100 x 600 mm (43.3 x 23.62 in), matched to the Y travel, and carries 1,200 kg (2,645.54 lb). Twenty-four tools are standard, each up to 15 kg (33.06 lb), and a 32 or 40 tool magazine is optional.

It is the smallest of three G models and the natural pick for steel and cast-iron parts that fit on a metre table: die blocks, pump bodies, machine components. At 6,000 rpm it is the wrong tool for small cutters in aluminium. Accuracy is listed at 0.010 mm and repeatability at 0.007 mm (±0.0035 mm).
