Overview
The Trumpf TruLaser Tube 3000 Fiber is the entry point into Trumpf's tube and profile laser cutting lineup, designed for shops that need reliable tube cutting without the complexity and cost of larger tube laser systems. It handles round tubes up to 152 mm (6 in) diameter standard (170 mm optional), rectangular profiles up to 152 mm, and raw material lengths up to 6.5 m or 8.0 m depending on the LoadMaster configuration.
Laser power options include the TruFiber 2001 at 2 kW and TruFiber 3001 at 3 kW. At 2 kW, the machine cuts 8 mm mild steel, 4 mm stainless, 4 mm aluminum, 3 mm copper, and 3 mm brass. The 3 kW model extends stainless and aluminum to 6 mm, and copper and brass to 4 mm. These thickness capabilities cover the vast majority of tube and profile work in furniture manufacturing, architectural metalwork, structural framing, and general fabrication.
The machine features bevel cutting up to 45 degrees for weld preparation on tube joints, which is a significant capability for structural tube fabrication. A self-centering collet chuck with continuous sensor monitoring handles various tube geometries automatically, and an adaptive clamping system accommodates L-profiles and U-profiles beyond standard round and rectangular tubes.
SeamLine Tube is Trumpf's automatic weld seam detection system that identifies the weld seam on tube stock and positions it appropriately before cutting. This ensures the laser doesn't cut through or near the weld seam, which would compromise cut quality and part integrity. Finished part lengths range from 3 m to 8 m depending on the unloading configuration.
The LoadMaster automatic loading system handles up to 120-148 kg per tube with automatic feed and centering. Maximum raw material weight per meter is 18.5 kg. Average power consumption is 6 kW at 2 kW laser or 9 kW at 3 kW -- very efficient for a tube laser system.
New TruLaser Tube 3000 Fiber machines start around $300,000-$400,000 for the 2 kW configuration. The 3 kW model with extended LoadMaster runs $400,000-$550,000. The Tube 3000 competes with the BLM LT5, Mazak FabriGear, and Bystronic ByTube Star in the entry-level tube laser market.

Strengths & Limitations
Strengths
- Entry-level pricing brings Trumpf tube laser cutting to shops that can't justify a Tube 5000 or 7000
- Bevel cutting up to 45 degrees enables weld-ready tube joints directly from the laser -- no secondary beveling
- SeamLine Tube automatic weld seam detection ensures consistent quality without operator intervention
- Self-centering collet chuck and adaptive clamping handle round, rectangular, L-profile, and U-profile tubes
- Low power consumption (6-9 kW average) keeps operating costs manageable for smaller operations
- LoadMaster automatic loading with up to 148 kg capacity enables unattended operation on tube bundles
Limitations
- 152 mm max tube diameter is limiting for larger structural tube applications -- the Tube 5000 and 7000 handle 180 mm and 254 mm
- 2-3 kW laser power limits wall thickness capacity -- 8 mm mild steel maximum is the ceiling for this machine
- No thick-wall tube capability for heavy structural or process piping applications
- Lower laser power means slower cutting speeds on thicker wall tubes compared to higher-powered competitors
- Finished part length limited to 3-8 m depending on unloading -- very long parts may require the Tube 7000's 12.5 m capacity

Frequently Asked Questions
01
New machines with 2 kW start around $300,000-$400,000. The 3 kW model with extended LoadMaster runs $400,000-$550,000. Used machines from 2019-2022 trade in the $150,000-$300,000 range. The Tube 3000 is Trumpf's most affordable tube laser cutter.
02
Round tubes up to 152 mm (6 in) diameter standard, 170 mm optional. Rectangular profiles up to 152 mm side length. Also handles L-profiles and U-profiles with the adaptive clamping system. Raw material up to 6.5 m or 8.0 m long. Maximum weight per meter is 18.5 kg.
03
Yes. The machine cuts bevel angles up to 45 degrees, enabling V-groove and chamfered joints directly on the tube laser. This eliminates separate grinding or beveling operations for weld preparation on tube joints, which is a significant labor savings in structural tube fabrication.
04
SeamLine Tube is Trumpf's automatic weld seam detection system. It identifies the longitudinal weld seam on welded tube stock and positions the tube so that cuts avoid the seam area. This is important because cutting through or near the weld seam can produce inconsistent edge quality, and in structural applications, leaving the seam in a critical joint location can compromise weld quality.
05
The 3 kW model extends stainless and aluminum capacity from 4 mm to 6 mm, and copper/brass from 3 mm to 4 mm. If your work includes stainless or aluminum tube above 4 mm wall thickness, the 3 kW is necessary. For thin-wall tube work primarily in mild steel, the 2 kW delivers adequate performance at a lower price. The 3 kW also cuts thin material faster, so high-volume thin-wall production benefits from the extra power.
06
Both are entry-level tube lasers targeting similar markets. The BLM LT5 handles slightly larger tubes (up to 170 mm) but the Trumpf offers SeamLine weld seam detection and integration with Trumpf's TruTops CAM ecosystem. BLM has a stronger reputation specifically in tube processing, while Trumpf brings broader sheet metal fabrication ecosystem integration. Test-cut both with your typical materials before deciding.
