How much does the TRAK TMC7 cost?
Price estimate
We do not have a price for the TRAK TMC7 that we can stand behind, so we show no number. Configuration, options and installation move the final price a long way: a quote is the reliable figure.
Overview
The TRAK TMC7 is a 40 Taper toolroom machining center with 30 x 20 x 20 in (762 x 508 x 508 mm) of travel and a 35.43 x 19.69 in (900 x 500 mm) table, programmed at the ProtoTRAK RMX CNC.
A useful way to read it is against the VMC7si, which has the same table, the same nominal travels and the same net weight of 8,360 lbs (3,792 kg). On paper the two are the same size; the spindle and tool changer are not. The TMC7 runs 50 - 8,000 rpm as standard, with 12,000 rpm optional, on 15 hp (11.2 kW) peak / 10 hp (7.5 kW) continuous, and it changes among 16 tools on a carousel. The VMC7si runs 10 - 12,000 rpm on 41.5 hp (30.9 kW) peak / 20.1 hp (15.0 kW) continuous at 480V and carries 24 tools on a dual-arm changer. Table load follows the same pattern: 1,320 lbs (599 kg) here, 1,518 lbs (689 kg) on the VMC7si.
So the TMC7 is the choice when the work is varied and short-run and the spindle rarely sits at full load. Its rapids reflect that. TRAK lists 400 ipm (10.2 m/min) in Toolroom Ops and 1,000 ipm (25.4 m/min) in Production Ops.
The spindle takes CAT 40 or BT 40 holders with 1,500 lbs (680 kg) of clamping force at 90 psi, and its nose is 3 in (76 mm) in diameter. Tools in the carousel may be up to 3.14 in (80 mm) across and 15 lbs (7 kg) with the holder. Clearance under the spindle nose is 3.5 in (89 mm) to 23.50 in (597 mm).
It installs on 208V three-phase at 52.4 A with the standard spindle, in a footprint of 97 x 135 in (2,464 x 3,429 mm) with coolant tank, auger and pendant rotated.

Strengths & Limitations
Strengths
- 30 in (762 mm) of X with 20 in (508 mm) of Y and Z on a 35.43 x 19.69 in (900 x 500 mm) table
- Runs on 208V three-phase at 52.4 A with the standard spindle, where the VMC7si is a 480 V machine
- Two rapid rates to suit the job: 400 ipm (10.2 m/min) in Toolroom Ops, 1,000 ipm (25.4 m/min) in Production Ops
- Table load of 1,320 lbs (599 kg), up from 880 lbs (399 kg) on the TMC5
- 16-tool carousel taking CAT 40 or BT 40 holders
Limitations
- 16 tools, against 24 on the VMC7si with the same table and travels
- 15 hp (11.2 kW) peak / 10 hp (7.5 kW) continuous; the VMC7si is rated 41.5 hp (30.9 kW) peak
- 8,000 rpm as standard; 12,000 rpm is an option
- The power row gives 52.4 A for the standard spindle only, so ask for the figure with the 12,000 rpm option
- Maximum tool diameter is 3.14 in (80 mm) and maximum tool weight 15 lbs (7 kg) including holder

Frequently Asked Questions
01
Table size, travels and net weight match. The TMC7 has 50 - 8,000 rpm standard (12,000 rpm optional), 15 hp (11.2 kW) peak, a 16-tool carousel and a 1,320 lbs (599 kg) table load. The VMC7si has 10 - 12,000 rpm, 41.5 hp (30.9 kW) peak at 480V, a 24-tool dual-arm changer with 30 optional and a 1,518 lbs (689 kg) table load.
02
A 40 Taper spindle for CAT 40 or BT 40 holders, rated 15 hp (11.2 kW) peak and 10 hp (7.5 kW) continuous. The standard speed range is 50 - 8,000 rpm and 12,000 rpm is optional. Tool clamping force is 1,500 lbs (680 kg) at 90 psi.
03
1,320 lbs (599 kg). For reference, the TMC5 is limited to 880 lbs (399 kg) and the TMC10 carries 1,760 lbs (798 kg), so the load rating rises with each table size.
04
The listed footprint is 97 x 135 in (2,464 x 3,429 mm), width by length, with coolant tank, auger and pendant rotated. Height is 90 in (2,286 mm) minimum and 106.5 in (2,705 mm) with the head fully up. Net weight is 8,360 lbs (3,792 kg) and shipping weight 8,700 lbs.
05
Air is given as 2.5 CFM, 18 SCFM at 90 psi, and that same 90 psi is the pressure at which the 1,500 lbs (680 kg) tool clamping force is stated. The coolant tank holds 56 gal (212 L).
