How much does the Tajmac-ZPS MCH800i cost?
Price estimate
We do not have a price for the Tajmac-ZPS MCH800i that we can stand behind, so we show no number. Configuration, options and installation move the final price a long way: a quote is the reliable figure.
Overview
A T-shaped bed, a travelling column and 800 × 800 mm pallets rated for 2,500 kg: the MCH800i is the mid-size ZPS horizontal machining centre and the first in the range built for heavy work. Travels are 1,000 mm in X, 1,050 mm in Y and 1,200 mm in Z (39.4 x 41.3 x 47.2 in).
Notice how the envelope is proportioned. Y and Z are both longer than X, and the maximum workpiece is ø 1,100 × 1,300 mm, taller than it is wide. This is a machine for tall housings, gearbox cases and tombstone fixtures, where reach along the spindle axis and height above the pallet matter more than width. The spindle nose can stand 100 - 1,300 mm from the rotary table axis.
Feed forces of 20 kN in X and Z and 10.5 kN in Y back the 50-taper spindles in the range brochure, which include ISO 50 units at 4,500 rpm with 893 / 1,313 Nm or 990 / 1,387 Nm for heavy roughing, and ISO 50 units at 8,000 rpm. HSK-A63 at 18,000 rpm and HSK-A100 at 14,000 rpm cover high-speed work, which is why the maker describes the machine as usable from power cutting up to high-speed machining. Despite the mass, rapids are 50 m/min.
The B axis has a worm gear as standard, at 11.1 rpm and 2,250 Nm. A torque motor is optional and here it improves both figures, to 43 rpm and 2,440 Nm. The table locks with 5,800 Nm.
Tools up to 650 mm long and 30 kg are stored in a 60-pocket cassette magazine that is loaded from outside the machining area; a tool change takes 3.5 s, or 2 s for tools under 8 kg. Pallet change takes 20 s. Installed, the machine occupies 8,400 × 4,700 × 3,650 mm and weighs 31,000 kg.

Frequently Asked Questions
01
X is 1,000 mm on the column, Y is 1,050 mm on the spindle head and Z is 1,200 mm on the rotary table support. The B axis rotates 360°. Pallets are 800 × 800 mm with a maximum load of 2,500 kg including the clamping fixture, and the pallet surface is 1,250 mm above the floor.
02
Yes. The MCH800i FIVE AXIS replaces the B-axis rotary table with a tilting rotary table: an A axis of 210° (±105°) and a C axis of 360°. It works on a 630 × 630 mm pallet or a ø 800 mm plate. Linear travels are unchanged.
03
The worm gear is standard and gives 11.1 rpm and 2,250 Nm. The optional torque motor gives 43 rpm and 2,440 Nm, so it is both faster and stronger on this size. For work that indexes often, or that mills while the table rotates, the torque motor is the one to price.
04
Tool to tool, 3.5 s at standard speed for tools heavier than 8 kg and 2 s at high speed for tools lighter than 8 kg. The magazine holds 60 tools as standard with 80, 100 or 120 optional; tools can be 125 mm in diameter with adjacent tools, 250 mm without.
05
The MCH1000i has 1,400 mm of X travel, 1,000 × 1,000 mm pallets and takes workpieces up to ø 1,400 × 1,300 mm; it weighs 33,500 kg. The MCH800i has 1,000 mm, 800 × 800 mm pallets and ø 1,100 × 1,300 mm, at 31,000 kg. Y, Z, pallet load and feed forces are the same.
