Price estimate
We do not have a price for the STV CNC SparX 4800 that we can stand behind, so we show no number. Configuration, options and installation move the final price a long way: a quote is the reliable figure.
Overview
A full 4 x 8 sheet drops straight onto the STV CNC SparX 4800: the cutting envelope is 8 ft x 4 ft. This is the bolt-together table in the STV CNC range, shipped in crates and assembled on site, in the size most steel suppliers treat as their standard sheet, so material goes from the rack to the slats without a shear in between.
Everything about the frame is bolted. The legs, the braces and the separate water pans, each 3 in deep, go together from the crates with the maker's manual, a job STV CNC puts at 4 to 5 hours, and the pan joints have to be sealed with waterproof silicone before the table is filled. Plate capacity is 1.5 in of steel. An assembled extruded aluminum gantry rides on linear guides and is moved by rack and pinion, with 5.5 in of Z travel on a ball lead screw. Four NEMA stepper motors drive the axes directly at a 1:1 ratio, and a 3:1 gear reduction system is something the buyer adds later, not part of this table.
Plan the floor around the sheet, not only the table. STV CNC lists the occupied area as about 10 ft x 6 ft x 5 ft, and a 4 x 8 sheet needs clear space on the loading side as well. The pan under the slats holds about 87 gallons of water. A full sheet of thicker plate is too heavy to slide on by hand, so think about a hoist or roller support for the loading side before the first heavy job.
The table is run from MyPlasmCNC, downloadable software for a Windows PC that the buyer supplies and connects by USB. STV CNC presents it as a basic control for people new to CNC cutting, and it accepts .dxf, .plt, .tap, .2d and .hpgl files. On the torch side the base table already has height control, a magnetic breakaway and collision, ohmic and material detection sensors, and it can be operated wet or dry. A plasma cutter is not part of the table and is chosen to suit the thickness being cut.

Strengths & Limitations
Strengths
- Torch height control, magnetic breakaway, collision switch and ohmic sensing are included on the base table
- Rated for steel plate up to 1.5 in thick
- Runs wet or dry on interchangeable 1.5 in flat bar slats
- 8 ft x 4 ft envelope takes a full 4 x 8 sheet without pre-cutting
Limitations
- Assembly is required, and the bolt-on water pans have to be sealed with silicone by the owner
- Direct-drive steppers at a 1:1 ratio; gear reduction is a separate upgrade
- Needs about 10 ft x 6 ft x 5 ft of floor plus sheet-loading space

Frequently Asked Questions
01
Yes. The cutting envelope is 8 ft x 4 ft, which is a full 4 x 8 sheet. The table is rated for steel plate up to 1.5 in thick and occupies about 10 ft x 6 ft x 5 ft.
02
Four NEMA stepper motors in a 1:1 ratio direct drive, moving the gantry and table by standard rack and pinion on a standard linear guide assembly. The Z axis uses a precision ground billet ball lead screw. A 3:1 ratio gear reduction system is offered by STV CNC as an upgrade and is not fitted to the base table.
03
The table electronics run on 110 V. The plasma cutter is separate and has its own supply requirement. The water pan holds about 87 gallons and is 3 in deep; the table can be run wet or dry.
04
Torch height control and an E-stop are standard, along with a magnetic breakaway that lets the torch release on a tip-up, and collision, ohmic and material detection sensors. The table can be operated wet or dry, and the slats are interchangeable.
