Overview
The Shibaura Machine BTH-130.R24 is a heavy horizontal boring machine: a 130 mm (5.1 in) boring spindle facing a 2,000 x 2,400 mm (78.7 x 94.4 in) table rated for 20,000 kg (44,000 lb), or 40,000 kg (88,000 lb) with the optional hydrostatic table. X is 3,000 mm (118 in) of table cross movement, Y is 2,300 mm (90 in) of spindle head travel and Z is 1,500 mm (60 in) of column movement. The spindle extends a further 500 mm (20 in) in W.
The hydrostatic table is the first thing to decide. It doubles the load rating, and for forgings, press frames or large gear cases the part weight alone can settle the question. The optional 2-pallet APC goes the other way: at 15,000 kg (33,000 lb) per pallet it is rated below either table, so pallet changing and maximum part weight cannot be had together.
