Sharp KMA-1H-CNC — price

Price estimate: uncertain

We have no price for the Sharp KMA-1H-CNC that we can cite and no estimate we can stand behind, so this page shows no number rather than a guess. A quote from Sharp or an authorised dealer is the reliable figure.

What moves the final price

  • Spindle, control and probing options
  • Tool changer capacity and tooling package
  • Automation — pallet changers, bar feeders, robot cells
  • Freight, rigging, installation and training
  • Region, dealer and time of year

Overview

Two spindles on one head set the Sharp KMA-1H-CNC apart from an ordinary CNC bed mill. The milling head carries a vertical and a horizontal spindle, driven by separate motors through 18-speed gearheads, and both take NT50 tooling. With an optional indexer or rotary table the horizontal spindle lets the machine reach the sides of a part as well as the top, which Sharp calls 5-sided machining. There is no automatic tool change.

Be careful with this model's travel figures. Sharp's bullet list gives 33.5" x 51.2" of travel on a 19.7" x 74.8" table. In the specification table the Y axis is confirmed at 33.5 in (850 mm), but the X row prints an inch value and a metric value that do not match and the Z row disagrees with the summary at the head of the page, so neither is repeated here as a table figure. Get the travels in writing before committing a job to it.

Other rows are consistent. The table is 74.8 x 19.7 in (1900 x 500 mm) and sits 32.25 in (820 mm) off the floor. Positioning accuracy is listed as 0.00039 in (0.01 mm) and repeatability as 0.000236 in (0.006 mm). The X axis runs on a dovetail way and Y and Z on square ways, all with Turcite B.

The spindle motor row reads 4 hp, 10 hp (3 kW, 7.45 kW) without saying which spindle each figure belongs to. Weight is 12,125 lb (5500 kg).

Frequently Asked Questions

01 What are the two spindles on the KMA-1H-CNC for?

The vertical spindle works the top of the part and the horizontal spindle works its sides. Sharp says the horizontal spindle allows 5-sided machining when the machine is installed with the optional indexer or rotary table, so operations that would need several setups can be done at one.

02 What spindle speeds and motors does the KMA-1H-CNC have?

The table lists 45-1500 rpm in 18 steps on an NT50 taper, and a spindle motor entry of 4 hp, 10 hp (3 kW, 7.45 kW). Sharp's page does not state which figure applies to the vertical spindle and which to the horizontal one, so confirm it when quoting.

03 How accurate is the KMA-1H-CNC?

Sharp lists a positioning accuracy of 0.00039 in (0.01 mm) and a repeatability of 0.000236 in (0.006 mm). The axes run on plain ways with Turcite B, a dovetail on X and square ways on Y and Z, with hardened and ground slideways.

04 What are the size and services of the KMA-1H-CNC?

Overall dimensions are 168.5 x 148.82 x 117.32 in (4280 x 3780 x 2980 mm) and weight is 12,125 lb (5500 kg). Electrical demand is 25 kVA and the air supply is listed as 6-8kg/cm2. Machine height on its own is 117.32 in (2980 mm).
