How much does the SCM Accord 500 cost?
Price estimate
We do not have a price for the SCM Accord 500 that we can stand behind, so we show no number. Configuration, options and installation move the final price a long way: a quote is the reliable figure.
Overview
The SCM Accord 500 is a bar-table CNC machining center for routing and drilling, listed in six working areas from 3715 x 1600 x 300 mm to 6715 x 1900 x 300 mm. Its 5-axis electrospindle is rated at up to 20 kW (27 hp) and 24000 rpm, and SCM also lists a 3- or 4-axis electrospindle of up to 21 kW (28.5 hp).
How fast it moves depends on the safety concept you order. In the PRO-SPEED version the X-Y-Z axes reach 90-80-45 m/min. The PRO-SPACE version, which SCM describes as built without perimeter protections for shops short of floor space, is listed at 25-80-45 m/min, so the saving in footprint is paid for in X-axis speed. Y and Z are the same in both.
Tooling is where this model is unusually broad. The table names six changers: a TRB side changer with 11 positions, a CADDY side changer with 35 positions, a RAPID rear changer with 16 positions, a QUADRO rear changer with 35 positions, and FAST and VELOCE on-board changers with 16 positions each. SCM states that up to 106 tools can be on board with the QUADRO 35 and CADDY 35 fitted. Which of the six a given machine carries is a configuration question, not a given.
The drilling unit takes up to 31 vertical and horizontal spindles at a maximum of 8000 rpm. Next to it in the range, the Accord 600 keeps the same six working areas but pairs a smaller 5-axis spindle with two on-board changers for tool changes in hidden time.

Strengths & Limitations
Strengths
- 5-axis electrospindle of up to 20 kW (27 hp) at 24000 rpm, the highest 5-axis rating among the Accord pages listed here
- Six working areas, with X of 3,715 mm (146.3 in), 5,515 mm (217.1 in) or 6,715 mm (264.4 in) and two Y depths
- Up to 106 tools on board with the QUADRO 35 and CADDY 35 changers, according to SCM
- Drilling unit with up to 31 vertical and horizontal spindles at 8000 rpm
- PRO-SPACE version works without perimeter protections where floor space is tight
Limitations
- X-axis speed drops from 90 m/min to 25 m/min in the PRO-SPACE version (25-80-45 m/min against 90-80-45 m/min)
- Z is 300 mm (11.8 in) in every working area, less than the 500 mm of the Accord 50 FX working areas such as 3680x1680x500 mm
- All spindle, changer and drilling figures are stated as maximums, so the quoted configuration decides what is fitted

Frequently Asked Questions
01
They are two safety layouts with different axis speeds. SCM lists 90-80-45 m/min for the X-Y-Z axes in PRO-SPEED and 25-80-45 m/min in PRO-SPACE. PRO-SPACE is the version without perimeter protections, which SCM aims at companies that do not have much space available.
02
Two routing options appear in the table: a 5-axis electrospindle of up to 20 kW (27 hp) and a 3- or 4-axis electrospindle of up to 21 kW (28.5 hp). Both are listed at a maximum of 24000 rpm.
03
SCM states up to 106 tools on board with the QUADRO 35 and CADDY 35 changers. The table lists the individual changers: TRB side with 11 positions, CADDY side with 35 positions, RAPID rear with 16 positions, QUADRO rear with 35 positions, and FAST and VELOCE on-board changers with 16 positions each.

Six: 3715 x 1600 x 300 mm, 3715 x 1900 x 300 mm, 5515 x 1600 x 300 mm, 5515 x 1900 x 300 mm, 6715 x 1600 x 300 mm and 6715 x 1900 x 300 mm. That is three X lengths in two Y depths, with the same Z throughout.
