How much does the Hendrick HLD-L Series cost?
Price estimate
We do not have a price for the Hendrick HLD-L Series that we can stand behind, so we show no number. Configuration, options and installation move the final price a long way: a quote is the reliable figure.
Overview
Hendrick positions the HLD-L Series as its entry 3-axis CNC router: a single-head, moving-gantry machine with a 12 hp (8.9 kW) HSD ISO30 spindle and a linear rack style tool changer. The standard tables are 4 ft x 8 ft (1,230 x 2,500 mm), 5 ft x 10 ft (1,560 x 3,100 mm) and 6.5 ft x 12 ft (2,050 x 4,020 mm). Table lengths of 16 ft (5,000 mm) and 20 ft (6,000 mm) are optional.
What the lower position costs is speed. Rapid traverse is 1,600 in/min (40 m/min) and cutting speed is up to 600 in/min (15 m/min). On a full nest of small parts the rapids between cuts add up, so a shop running sheets back to back all day will feel that more than a sign shop cutting a handful of panels.
The mechanics are not cut down. X and Y still run on precision ground helical rack and pinion, Z on a precision ball screw, with THK LM linear guide ways on all axes, and the drives are Delta / Panasonic. Z travel is 8 in (200 mm) or 12 in (300 mm); the HSR-R Series lists 8 in (200 mm) with custom travel on request.
The table is a plenum style grid vacuum table with a PVC surface over a steel structure and several manually operated zones, fed by a Becker vacuum pump. Pop-up stops locate the sheet: one on the Y axis and two on the X axis. The control is an OSAI Open CNC on an industrial Windows PC with Ethernet and a manual pulse generator. An HSK63-F spindle, Becker VTLF vacuum pumps and a vertical boring head are the listed options.

Strengths & Limitations
Strengths
- A 12 hp (8.9 kW) HSD ISO30 high frequency spindle is standard, and its power is stated
- Z travel of 8 in (200 mm) or 12 in (300 mm)
- The same helical rack and pinion, ball screw Z and THK LM linear guide ways as the faster Hendrick lines
- Tables from 4 ft x 8 ft (1,230 x 2,500 mm) to 6.5 ft x 12 ft (2,050 x 4,020 mm), with 16 ft (5,000 mm) and 20 ft (6,000 mm) lengths optional
- Grid pattern vacuum table that accepts third party vacuum accessories
Limitations
- Rapid traverse is 1,600 in/min (40 m/min), half the 3,200 in/min (80 m/min) of the HSR-R Series
- Cutting speed tops out at 600 in/min (15 m/min)
- Tool changes come from a linear rack; no rotary changer is listed for this series
- Vacuum zones are operated manually, and the HSK63-F spindle is an option

Frequently Asked Questions
01
A 12 hp (8.9 kW) HSD ISO30 high frequency spindle is standard, served by a linear rack style tool changer. An HSK63-F high frequency spindle is listed as an option, as is a vertical boring head.
02
The HLD-L Series is the slower of the two: 1,600 in/min (40 m/min) rapids and up to 600 in/min (15 m/min) cutting, against 3,200 in/min (80 m/min) and up to 800 in/min (20 m/min) on the HSR-R Series. Both use helical rack and pinion on X and Y, a ball screw Z and an OSAI Open CNC controller.
03
Hendrick lists 8 in (200 mm) or 12 in (300 mm) of Z axis travel for the HLD-L Series. Pick the taller one if thick foam, stacked material or tall fixtures have to pass under the gantry.
04
Hendrick names the sign industry first, then solid wood furniture, cabinets, doors, insulation panels and plastics. It also lists acrylic, PVC, artificial stone and soft metals such as aluminum and copper.
05
It is a plenum style table with a PVC surface over a steel structure, cut in an industry standard grid pattern. Several independently operated manual zones let small parts be held without leaving the rest of the table open. A Becker vacuum pump is standard and Becker VTLF pumps are optional.
