Reishauer NZA

The Reishauer NZA is listed as a CNC combination generating and profile gear grinding machine for workpieces up to 260 mm (10.2 in) in diameter, with a 22 kW (29.5 hp) continuous grinding spindle and 6 CNC axes. It is not in Reishauer's current lineup and looks like an older model. The listed figures have not been checked against a manufacturer page, so anyone assessing a used NZA should confirm them against the machine's own documentation.

The two processes have different envelopes, and that split decides how work is divided. In generating mode the listed limits are a 6 mm module and 150 mm of face width. In profile mode they rise to an 8 mm module and 400 mm (15.7 in) of face width. Narrow gears of moderate pitch can run in the continuous generating process. Wider faces, or teeth coarser than the generating limit, have to be profile ground one tooth gap at a time, which takes longer per part.

Quality is listed as DIN 3962 Class 3-5 / AGMA Q11-13 for both modes, with a surface finish of Ra 0.2 - 0.5 µm. The workpiece spindle is given as up to 4,000 RPM. The control is described only as Reishauer proprietary and industrial PC-based, so on an older machine it is sensible to ask what software, documentation and backups come with it.

For installation, the listed weight is 8,500 kg (18,739 lb) and the dimensions are 3,200 x 2,600 x 2,800 mm (126 x 102 x 110 in). That makes it lighter than the RZ 160 at 9,600 kg (21,164 lb).
