The Reishauer RZ 1000 is a gear grinder for large workpieces: diameters from 60 mm to 1000 mm, shafts up to 800 mm long and a maximum workpiece weight of 1200 kg. It grinds by two processes. Generating grinding covers modules of 0.5 – 10.0 mm, and profile grinding extends the range to 0.5 – 14 mm.

The grinding wheel is up to 300 mm in diameter and 145/160 mm wide, and runs at a maximum operating speed of 80 m/s. Dressing rolls are 123 – 160 mm in diameter. The work spindle turns at up to 600 min⁻¹, a figure that fits big gears with many teeth, which rotate slowly against the wheel.
