Quaser MF500 — price

Price estimate: uncertain

We have no price for the Quaser MF500 that we can cite and no estimate we can stand behind, so this page shows no number rather than a guess. A quote from Quaser or an authorised dealer is the reliable figure.

What moves the final price

  • Spindle, control and probing options
  • Tool changer capacity and tooling package
  • Automation — pallet changers, bar feeders, robot cells
  • Freight, rigging, installation and training
  • Region, dealer and time of year

Overview

The Quaser MF500 is a multiple face / 5-axis vertical machining center with a Ø410 mm (Ø16.14") rotary table, sized for parts up to Ø500 x 300 mm (Ø19.6" x 11.8") and 300 kg (661.38 lbs). Linear travels are 550 mm (21.65") in X, 630 mm (24.80") in Y and 610 mm (24.02") in Z.

Notice that Y is the longest axis, which is rare on a vertical. When the part sits on a rotary unit instead of a flat table, the spindle has to reach it from the front, the back and over the top, and a long Y stroke is what lets it get around a Ø500 mm (Ø19.69") swing without running out of travel.

Quaser gives two design points for the rotary unit: the table is designed to reduce the coefficient of friction and strengthen the torque transmission of the drive motor, and the slide mechanism and rotary pallet are built symmetrically for higher rigidity. The maker also says the MF series is designed for easy operation, even for beginners with no experience of multiple face or 5-axis machining. The page lists no tilt range or rotary speed, so those have to be requested.

The spindle is a 40 taper with a maximum speed listed as 12K ~ 24K. A 30-tool magazine is standard; tools may be 76.2 mm (3") in diameter, 125 mm (4.9") with neighboring pots empty, and 280 mm (11.0") long. Thirty pockets is not many for 5-axis work with its mix of short and long-reach cutters, so check whether a larger magazine is offered.

Strengths & Limitations

Strengths

  • Carries 300 kg (661.38 lbs) on a Ø410 mm (Ø16.14") rotary table
  • 630 mm (24.80") of Y travel, the longest of its three linear axes
  • Spindle speed range listed as 12K ~ 24K
  • Symmetrical structure of slide mechanism and rotary pallet for higher rigidity, per Quaser
  • Described by Quaser as easy to operate for users new to 5-axis machining

Limitations

  • Quaser's table gives no tilt angle, rotary speed or rotary accuracy
  • Work piece height is limited to 300 mm on a Ø500 mm (Ø19.69") swing
  • 30 tools as standard is a small magazine for 5-axis part families
  • No spindle power or torque figures are published

Frequently Asked Questions

01 What size part fits the Quaser MF500?

Quaser lists a maximum work piece size of Ø500 x 300 mm (Ø19.6" x 11.8") and a maximum swing of Ø500 mm (Ø19.69"). The rotary table is Ø410 mm (Ø16.14") and carries 300 kg (661.38 lbs).

02 What are the linear travels of the MF500?

550 mm (21.65") in X, 630 mm (24.80") in Y and 610 mm (24.02") in Z. The rotary axis ranges are not given in the published table.

03 What spindle and tool magazine does the MF500 have?

A 40 taper spindle with a maximum speed listed as 12K ~ 24K, and a magazine with 30 positions as standard. Tools can be 76.2 mm (3") in diameter, 125 mm (4.9") with neighboring pots empty, and 280 mm (11.0") long.

04 How does the MF500 compare with the MF700?

The MF700 is the larger machine: a Ø650 mm (Ø25.59") table, a Ø700 mm (Ø27.56") swing, 500 kg (1102.30 lbs) of load and 48 tools as standard. The MF500 has a Ø410 mm (Ø16.14") table, 300 kg (661.38 lbs) of load and 30 tools, but more Y and Z travel than the MF700's 570 mm (22.44") and 530 mm (20.87").
