AWEA MVP-6040 — price

Price estimate: uncertain

We have no price for the AWEA MVP-6040 that we can cite and no estimate we can stand behind, so this page shows no number rather than a guess. A quote from AWEA or an authorised dealer is the reliable figure.

What moves the final price

  • Spindle, control and probing options
  • Tool changer capacity and tooling package
  • Automation — pallet changers, bar feeders, robot cells
  • Freight, rigging, installation and training

Overview

Two accuracy standards appear on the AWEA MVP-6040's sheet, and on a machine with 6,000 mm (236.2 in) of X travel and 4,000 mm (157.5 in) of Y they tell different stories. Under JIS the positioning figure is ± 0.010 mm over full travel with ± 0.003 mm repeatability, and AWEA prints those same numbers for every MVP. Under VDI the figures are P = 0.035 mm and P = 0.026 mm, and these do change with bed length. Anyone comparing this machine with another should compare like with like, and for a large-part machine the VDI line is the more telling one.

Several design points listed by the maker bear on holding those figures over such a span. From this X length upward the ball screw carries a vibration damping mechanism. The spindle, motor, Z-axis ball screw, hydraulic cylinders and gear box are arranged symmetrically to limit thermal expansion. The structure is annealed, and the double columns fully support the cross rail against distortion during long cuts.

The working area is large: a 6,020 x 3,010 mm (237.0 x 118.5 in) table rated for 20,000 kg (44,092 lb), set between columns 3,500 mm (137.8 in) apart. Rapid traverse is 10 m/min (394 ipm) on X, Y and Z alike.

A 1,200 L coolant tank and a weight of 88,500 kg (195,106 lb) come with the wide frame. The head is the series' BT 50 unit, 22 / 26 kW (30 / 35 HP), with a 60-tool magazine and FANUC Oi-MD control as standard.

Strengths & Limitations

Strengths

  • 20,000 kg (44,092 lb) table load on a 6,020 x 3,010 mm (237.0 x 118.5 in) table
  • Vibration damping mechanism on the X-axis ball screw
  • Equal 10 m/min (394 ipm) rapids on X, Y and Z
  • Repeatability of ± 0.003 mm under JIS and P = 0.026 mm under VDI
  • Annealed box-structure bed, columns and cross rail

Limitations

  • VDI positioning accuracy of P = 0.035 mm over full travel; the MVP-5040 is listed at P = 0.030 mm
  • 88,500 kg (195,106 lb), heavier than the MVP-6032 at 80,000 kg (176,367 lb)
  • Y rapid of 10 m/min (394 ipm), where the MVP-6032 is listed at 12 m/min (472 ipm)
  • Spindle power of 22 / 26 kW (30 / 35 HP) is the same as on the smallest model; the table shows no larger motor for the bigger frame

Best For

Large precision bases and plates where full-travel accuracy matters Wide and long fabrications up to 20,000 kg (44,092 lb) Long-running finishing cuts across a 6,000 x 3,000 mm area Parts needing 3,500 mm (137.8 in) of column clearance

Frequently Asked Questions

01 Which accuracy figure for the MVP-6040 should I use?

Both are the maker's. JIS: ± 0.010 mm over full travel for positioning, ± 0.003 mm for repeatability. VDI: P = 0.035 mm over full travel and P = 0.026 mm. The two standards measure and report differently, so a JIS figure for one machine should not be set against a VDI figure for another.

02 What does AWEA do about heat in the spindle head?

The maker states that the main spindle, spindle motor, Z-axial ball screw, twin hydraulic cylinders and gear box are symmetrically placed to minimize thermal expansion and unbalanced torque. The horizontal spindle head uses an oil mist lubrication system. Coolant through spindle is listed as available, not standard.

03 Is the MVP-6040 just a wider MVP-6032?

Largely. X travel of 6,000 mm (236.2 in), the 20,000 kg (44,092 lb) table load, the VDI figures and the spindle are the same. Against the MVP-6032, this machine has 4,000 mm (157.5 in) of Y instead of 3,200 mm (126.0 in), a 3,010 mm (118.5 in) wide table instead of 2,400 mm (94.5 in), and a 1,200 L coolant tank instead of 750 L.

04 How many tools does it carry, and how large?

The table lists 60 T, with a maximum tool diameter of Ø127 / Ø215 mm (Ø5.0 / Ø8.5 in), a maximum length of 400 mm (15.7 in) and a maximum weight of 20 kg (44 lb). The magazine is servo driven and exchanges tools with the head in either the vertical or the horizontal orientation.
