Overview
At 2,000 mm (78.7 in) between centers the Palmary OCD-42200 is the longest standard OCD CNC cylindrical grinder before Palmary's heavy duty series takes over. Swing is Ø420 mm (16.5 in) and the maximum grinding diameter Ø400 mm (15.7 in).
The table stroke is 2,540 mm (100.0 in). To make room for it the machine grows to 6,200 kg (13,668 lb), against 5,000 kg (11,023 lb) for the OCD-42150, and total power rises to 19 kVA.
Two things shrink as the bed gets longer. The table swivel is -1° to +7°, the narrowest of the five lengths, so steep tapers on a two-metre part are not this machine's job. And the load between centers remains 150 kg (331 lb). Put those together and the picture is clear: long, light, nearly parallel work such as printing and laminating rolls with hollow bodies, linear shafts and long rods. A solid shaft of this length that uses the full diameter needs the OCD-45220 with its 800 kg (1,764 lb) capacity.
The work spindle is driven by a 2 kW (2.7 hp) servo motor at 10 to 300 rpm. The wheel end is the family standard: Ø405 mm wheel, 5.5 kW (7.4 hp), hybrid hydro-static spindle bearings, 260 mm (10.2 in) of wheelhead stroke read by a linear scale. A FANUC CNC controller and fully enclosed splash guard are included.
