Overview
The Palmary OCD-42130P is the longest of Palmary's CNC plunge cylindrical grinders with angular wheelhead: 1,300 mm (51.2 in) between centers under a Ø420 mm (16.5 in) swing. No smaller-swing P model is as long, so this is the only choice in the series for long stepped shafts.
The table stroke is 1,800 mm (70.9 in). To turn long parts the workhead motor is raised to 2.0 kW (2.7 hp), the largest in the P series, and total power becomes 19 kVA, against 18 kVA for the OCD-4280P. Curiously the listed weight does not change: 4,800 kg (10,582 lb), the same figure Palmary prints for the OCD-4280P. Treat it as approximate.
Long shafts with many seats are the reason to buy it: machine tool spindles, rotor shafts, long gearbox shafts. Each seat is plunge ground with a wheel of Ø455 to 510 mm, 50 to 80 mm wide, on 5.5 kW (7.4 hp), then the table moves on at up to 10 m/min (394 ipm). The 150 kg (331 lb) center load applies here too, and at this length the optional 2-point and 3-point steady rests deserve a place in the quotation.
Table swivel is -3° to +8° and the workhead swivels -30° to +90°. X stroke is 260 mm (10.2 in) with a linear scale. A FANUC CNC controller and a fully enclosed splash guard are standard accessories.
