Price estimate
We do not have a price for the Oscar EDM EX 1510 that we can stand behind, so we show no number. Configuration, options and installation move the final price a long way: a quote is the reliable figure.
Overview
The Oscar EDM EX 1510 is a die-sinker EDM for very large mould and die blocks: 1500 mm (59.1 in) of X travel, 1000 mm (39.4 in) of Y and 600 mm (23.6 in) of Z, over a 1580 x 1100 mm (62.2 x 43.3 in) table that carries 11,000 kg (24,251 lb).
Planning for this machine starts with the building, not the burn. The machine itself weighs 14,700 kg (32,407 lb). Add a workpiece at the 11,000 kg limit and 3,410 L of dielectric and the floor is carrying far more than the bare machine weight, so foundation, crane capacity and access need settling early. The generator is listed separately at 380 kg (838 lb) and power consumption at 12 kVA.
X travel covers almost the full length of the table and Y travel almost its full width, so the head can reach nearly anywhere a block sits. Workpieces of 2070 x 1570 mm (81.5 x 61.8 in) fit, which is larger than the table in both directions. The electrode limit is 500 kg (1,102 lb) and the maximum working current is 120 A, a pairing meant for big electrode faces roughed at high current.
The vertical figures need a careful read. Chuck-to-table distance is 580 - 1180 mm (22.8 - 46.5 in), so the chuck never comes closer than 580 mm to the table. That suits tall blocks, but a thin plate needs a riser or a long electrode to be reached at all. The dielectric fills to a maximum of 585 mm (23.0 in), which sets how high above the table a burn can run submerged.
The dielectric is filtered through 6 elements rated at 20 μm. Control is Windows 10 on an industrial i3 (or above) 64-bit CPU, with up to 6 axes (XYZCUV) when a rotary table is fitted.

Strengths & Limitations
Strengths
- 11,000 kg (24,251 lb) workpiece capacity on a 1580 x 1100 mm (62.2 x 43.3 in) table
- 1500 x 1000 mm (59.1 x 39.4 in) of X-Y travel, close to the full table area
- Electrodes up to 500 kg (1,102 lb) with a 120 A maximum working current
- Up to 1180 mm (46.5 in) between chuck and table for tall blocks and long electrodes
- Maximum workpiece of 2070 x 1570 mm (81.5 x 61.8 in), beyond the table edges in both directions
Limitations
- Minimum chuck-to-table distance of 580 mm (22.8 in) leaves low workpieces out of reach without risers
- 14,700 kg (32,407 lb) machine weight before workpiece and 3,410 L of dielectric: foundation and crane work are part of the project
- Z travel of 600 mm (23.6 in) is short beside 1500 mm (59.1 in) of X, so cavity depth is the tighter limit on big blocks
- The 3,410 L dielectric tank makes the first fill and every fluid change a large handling and storage job

Frequently Asked Questions
01
Up to 2070 x 1570 mm (81.5 x 61.8 in) and 11,000 kg (24,251 lb). The table is 1580 x 1100 mm (62.2 x 43.3 in), so the largest blocks extend past it. X and Y travels of 1500 mm (59.1 in) and 1000 mm (39.4 in) decide how much of such a block the head can reach in one setup.
02
The machine weighs 14,700 kg (32,407 lb) and the generator 380 kg (838 lb). On top of that come up to 11,000 kg (24,251 lb) of workpiece, up to 500 kg (1,102 lb) of electrode and 3,410 L of dielectric. Have the floor checked for the loaded total, and make sure the crane that serves the machine can handle your heaviest block.
03
Because it is 580 mm (22.8 in). With Z at the bottom of its 600 mm (23.6 in) stroke the chuck is still 580 mm above the table, so workpiece height plus electrode and holder must reach at least that. Tall mould blocks do this naturally. Thin plates and small inserts need risers.
04
The EX 1060 is much smaller, with a 1250 x 750 mm (49.2 x 29.5 in) table and 5,500 kg (12,125 lb) machine weight. The EX 2210-2H has a longer 2250 x 1100 mm (88.6 x 43.3 in) table of the same width and weighs 15,000 kg (33,069 lb). The EX 1510 is 1580 x 1100 mm (62.2 x 43.3 in) and 14,700 kg (32,407 lb).
05
Maximum working current is 120 A and power consumption is 12 kVA. The dielectric tank holds 3,410 L and is filtered through 6 elements rated at 20 μm. In the work area the dielectric fills to 585 mm (23.0 in) at most.
