Price estimate
We do not have a price for the Oscar EDM EX 1060 that we can stand behind, so we show no number. Configuration, options and installation move the final price a long way: a quote is the reliable figure.
Overview
The Oscar EDM EX 1060 is a large die-sinker EDM built around a 120 A maximum working current and a 1250 x 750 mm (49.2 x 29.5 in) table. Travels are 1000 mm (39.4 in) in X, 600 mm (23.6 in) in Y and 500 mm (19.7 in) in Z, and the table carries workpieces up to 4,500 kg (9,921 lb).
The 120 A figure is the one that defines the machine. High current is what makes roughing a large electrode face practical, and the 350 kg (772 lb) electrode weight limit is in step with it: a big graphite or copper electrode for a deep mould cavity can hang from the head and be burned at a rate that suits its area. Power consumption is listed at 12 kVA and the generator weighs 380 kg (838 lb).
Check the vertical stack before quoting a job. The distance from chuck to table is 260 - 760 mm (10.2 - 29.9 in). With the head fully down there is still 260 mm between chuck and table, so a low workpiece with a short electrode will not be reached without a riser or a longer holder. At the other end, 760 mm has to cover the block, the electrode and the tooling. The dielectric level tops out at 460 mm (18.1 in).
In plan, workpieces up to 1670 x 990 mm (65.7 x 39.0 in) are accepted, wider and longer than the table. The dielectric tank holds 1,610 L and is filtered by 6 elements at 20 μm, a volume to allow for when planning the first fill.
Within Oscar EDM's range the EX 750 is the step down, with a 1000 x 600 mm (39.4 x 23.6 in) table and a machine weight of 4,500 kg (9,921 lb) against 5,500 kg (12,125 lb) here. The EX 1510 is the step up at 1580 x 1100 mm (62.2 x 43.3 in) and 14,700 kg (32,407 lb).

Strengths & Limitations
Strengths
- 120 A maximum working current for roughing large electrode faces
- Carries electrodes up to 350 kg (772 lb) and workpieces up to 4,500 kg (9,921 lb)
- 1000 x 600 mm (39.4 x 23.6 in) of X-Y travel over a 1250 x 750 mm (49.2 x 29.5 in) table
- 460 mm (18.1 in) maximum dielectric level and up to 760 mm (29.9 in) between chuck and table
- Up to 6 axes (XYZCUV) with a rotary table, on a Windows 10 control
Limitations
- The chuck never comes closer than 260 mm (10.2 in) to the table, so thin workpieces need risers or long electrodes
- A 1,610 L dielectric tank means a large first fill and a big volume to keep clean through 6 filter elements
- 12 kVA power consumption and a 5,500 kg (12,125 lb) machine weight have to be planned into the supply and the floor
- The rotary-table axes are quoted as an upper limit; the listing does not state what is standard

Frequently Asked Questions
01
On the headline figures they match: the NX 1060 has the same 1250 x 750 mm (49.2 x 29.5 in) table, the same 5,500 kg (12,125 lb) machine weight and the same Windows 10 control on an industrial i3 (or above) 64-bit CPU. The EX 1060 listing states up to 6 axes (XYZCUV) with a rotary table. Ask Oscar EDM how the control and operator interface differ between the two series before choosing.
02
Up to 350 kg (772 lb). Combined with the 120 A maximum working current, that allows large single-piece electrodes for deep cavities. The electrode and its holder also have to fit the 260 - 760 mm (10.2 - 29.9 in) chuck-to-table distance together with the workpiece.
03
Yes, but not directly on the table with a short electrode. The minimum chuck-to-table distance is 260 mm (10.2 in), so the workpiece height plus the electrode and holder must add up to at least that. Thin plates are normally raised on parallels or a sub-plate to close the gap.
04
The machine weighs 5,500 kg (12,125 lb) and the generator 380 kg (838 lb). Power consumption is 12 kVA. The dielectric tank takes 1,610 L, filtered through 6 elements rated at 20 μm. A workpiece at the 4,500 kg (9,921 lb) limit adds almost as much again as the machine itself, so size the floor for the loaded machine.
05
The EX 750 is smaller, with a 1000 x 600 mm (39.4 x 23.6 in) table and 4,500 kg (9,921 lb) machine weight. The EX 1510 is larger, with a 1580 x 1100 mm (62.2 x 43.3 in) table and 14,700 kg (32,407 lb) machine weight. The EX 1060 sits between them at 1250 x 750 mm (49.2 x 29.5 in) and 5,500 kg (12,125 lb).
