Overview
The Mitsubishi MV1200R is a 15.7 in (400 mm) by 11.8 in (300 mm) wire EDM run from an M800 series control with a 19-inch touchscreen. Z travel is 8.7 in (220 mm), the generator is the V350-V, and the electrical supply is 200-230V 3-phase.
Start with the table, because it is generous for the travel. At 25.2 × 21.3 in (640 × 540 mm) it leaves a wide margin on every side of the cutting window, and that margin is where clamps, rails and vises live. The MV1200S covers the same travels on a 25.2 × 17.7 in (640 × 450 mm) table. Loading capacity goes further still: workpieces up to 31.9 × 27.6 × 8.5 in (810 × 700 × 215 mm) and 1,102 lb (500 kg).
That weight limit deserves a second look. A solid steel blank at the maximum dimensions would be far heavier than 1,102 lb (500 kg), so the big envelope is for thin plates, frames and fixtures carrying several small parts.
For tapered cuts the U and V axes travel ±2.4 × ±2.4 in (±60 × ±60 mm) and the stated maximum is 15 degrees at 8.0 in (200 mm). The machine runs wire of 0.004–0.012 in (0.1–0.3 mm) and needs a start hole of at least 0.02 in (0.5 mm), so a pre-drilled hole smaller than that will not do.
