How much does the Mitsubishi Electric MG12 cost?
Price estimate
We do not have a price for the Mitsubishi Electric MG12 that we can stand behind, so we show no number. Configuration, options and installation move the final price a long way: a quote is the reliable figure.
Overview
The Mitsubishi Electric MG12 is a wire EDM with 15.7 in (399 mm) of X travel, 11.8 in (300 mm) of Y and 8.7 in (221 mm) of Z, driven by linear shaft motors with glass scale feedback. Mitsubishi Electric attaches a positioning guarantee of 10 years to it.
The table is a 3-sided frame of 25.2 x 21.3 in (640 x 541 mm), and the largest workpiece is 31.9 x 27.6 x 8.5 in (810 x 701 x 216 mm) at up to 1,100 lb (499 kg). The work can therefore be bigger than the travel, which is usual on wire machines: the plate overhangs and only the region being cut has to sit inside the stroke. An automatic drop door is standard, which clears the front of the tank for loading.
U and V travel is ±2.36 x ±2.36 in (±60 x ±60 mm), giving a maximum taper of 15° at 8 in (203 mm) thickness. Wire tension runs from 200 to 2,550 g, and the smallest start hole is 0.02 in (0.51 mm).
The control is the Mitsubishi Electric M800 with a 19 in touch panel. The dielectric system holds 145 gal, filters to 3 microns through 4 paper filter elements and uses 1.4 cu ft of ion exchange resin. Installed size is 79.7 x 106.4 x 79.3 in (2,024 x 2,703 x 2,014 mm) and the weight is 5,940 lb (2,694 kg) including the fluid system. The MG24 is the larger frame, with a 33 x 25.2 in (838 x 640 mm) table and a weight of 7,700 lb (3,493 kg).

Strengths & Limitations
Strengths
- Linear shaft motor drive with glass scale feedback, backed by a 10 years positioning guarantee
- Automatic drop door is standard
- 15° taper at 8 in (203 mm) thickness from ±2.36 in (±60 mm) of U and V travel
- Workpieces up to 31.9 x 27.6 x 8.5 in (810 x 701 x 216 mm) and 1,100 lb (499 kg)
- Start holes down to 0.02 in (0.51 mm)
Limitations
- Z travel is 8.7 in (221 mm) and workpiece height 8.5 in (216 mm); taller parts call for the MG24, which has 12.2 in (310 mm) of Z
- Workpiece weight is limited to 1,100 lb (499 kg)
- The table lists no cutting speed, surface finish or wire diameter range

Frequently Asked Questions
01
Travel is 15.7 in (399 mm) in X, 11.8 in (300 mm) in Y and 8.7 in (221 mm) in Z. The maximum workpiece is 31.9 x 27.6 x 8.5 in (810 x 701 x 216 mm) in width, depth and height, at up to 1,100 lb (499 kg), on a 3-sided table of 25.2 x 21.3 in (640 x 541 mm).
02
The maximum taper angle is 15° at 8 in (203 mm) thickness. U and V travel is ±2.36 x ±2.36 in (±60 x ±60 mm). The table gives the angle at that one thickness only, so ask for the limit at your own part height if it differs.
03
Linear shaft motor drive with glass scale feedback. Mitsubishi Electric lists a positioning guarantee of 10 years. The control is the Mitsubishi Electric M800 with a 19 in touch panel.
04
Size. The MG12 has a 25.2 x 21.3 in (640 x 541 mm) table and weighs 5,940 lb (2,694 kg) including the fluid system. The MG24 has a 33 x 25.2 in (838 x 640 mm) table and weighs 7,700 lb (3,493 kg). Both use the Mitsubishi Electric M800 control with a 19 in touch panel.
