Overview

The Messer EdgeMax is a unitized plasma cutting machine with the table built into the frame, sold in cutting widths of 6 ft, 8 ft and 10 ft and cutting lengths of 12 ft or 24 ft. It cuts 26 gage to 2.5 in (64 mm) thick plate in mild steel, stainless steel and aluminum, with precision plasma offered up to 460 amps.

Fixed sizes are the trade for quick installation. The machine arrives as a unit on levelers, so there are no floor rails to set, but there is also no way to lengthen it later: 24 ft is the longest table. Shops that need more length move to the MetalMaster Evolution or a rail gantry.

Digital AC amplifiers with 600 watts run brushless AC motors through planetary gearboxes, and hardened pinions 2.5 in (64 mm) in diameter on the X and Y axes work on a 1 in (25 mm) wide gear rack. Positioning speed is 1,700 ipm (43.2 m/min) in all axes. The torch rides a PL-1 lifter with Messer's SureStop collision sensor.

The standard table is ducted, with damper-controlled zones, removable slat frames and doors for retrieving lost parts; a water table is an option, sold as the EdgeMax H2O.
