Overview

The Mazak INTEGREX i-200ST NEO is the highest-capability variant of the i-200 NEO platform, combining a sub-spindle, lower turret, and the upper B-axis milling head for true simultaneous multi-tasking in the 8-inch chuck class.

The i-200ST NEO runs an 8-inch main chuck with maximum machining diameter of 600 mm (23.62 in) and machining length of 850 mm (33.46 in). Bar capacity is 65 mm (2.56 in). The main spindle delivers 22 kW (30 hp) at 5,000 RPM. The upper milling spindle operates at 12,000 RPM standard (20,000 RPM optional) through HSK-A63 with 18.5 kW (25 hp). The B-axis swings 240 degrees with 0.0001-degree resolution. Y-axis provides 210 mm (8.27 in).

The lower turret is the defining difference. While the upper milling head handles 5-axis contouring, the lower turret simultaneously performs OD roughing, grooving, threading, or boring. This delivers 30-40% cycle time reduction.

The NEO generation brings MAZATROL SmoothAi with Ai Thermal Shield, compact milling head, and front-mounted magazine. SmoothAi coordinates up to 9 axes of simultaneous motion with real-time collision avoidance.

Competes with the DMG Mori CTX beta 1250 TC with lower turret and Okuma Multus B250II ST. New machines price between $430,000 and $560,000.

Strengths & Limitations

Strengths

  • Simultaneous upper milling and lower turret cutting delivers 30-40% cycle time reduction
  • HSK-A63 milling at 18.5 kW provides machining center capability while lower turret handles turning in parallel
  • Most complete multi-tasking configuration in the 8-inch chuck INTEGREX class
  • Ai Thermal Shield maintains accuracy during long simultaneous multi-tasking cycles
  • 65 mm bar capacity supports production bar feeding for complete done-in-one parts
  • SmoothAi with collision avoidance manages 9+ axes of coordinated motion

Limitations

  • Dollar 430K-560K requires consistently complex, high-value parts where simultaneous cutting delivers savings
  • 9+ axis programming requires validated CAM post processors and experienced programmers
  • Sub-spindle at 15 kW limits heavy roughing on back end of difficult materials
  • Lower turret adds mechanical complexity and maintenance requirements

Best For

Aerospace production cells where simultaneous turning and milling minimizes cycle time Medical device manufacturers where simultaneous cutting reduces per-part cost on high-value implants Defense contractors producing precision components requiring simultaneous multi-tasking Production environments where 30-40% cycle time reduction directly impacts capacity Shops running i-200S machines looking to step up to simultaneous multi-tasking

Frequently Asked Questions

01 i-200S NEO vs i-200ST NEO?

The i-200ST NEO adds a lower turret for simultaneous cutting, reducing cycle times 30-40% at approximately $60,000-$80,000 more.

02 What does a new i-200ST NEO cost?

Start around $430,000. Production-ready configs run $500,000-$560,000.

03 When does the ST justify the extra cost?

When parts have significant turning and milling content that can run in parallel. 3 min turning + 3 min milling runs in roughly 3.5 min on the ST vs 6 min on the S.

04 i-200ST NEO vs i-400ST?

i-200ST NEO: 8-inch chuck, HSK-A63 at 18.5 kW, 210 mm Y-axis. i-400ST: 10-inch chuck, 30 kW milling, 250 mm Y-axis at $70,000-$190,000 more.
