Overview

The Mazak INTEGREX i-200S NEO is the sub-spindle version of the NEO-generation i-200: an 8" main chuck, a programmable second spindle, and a milling spindle on a swiveling B-axis, arranged so a part can be turned, milled and finished on both ends without an operator touching it between operations. Maximum machining diameter is Φ600 mm (Φ24 in) with 850 mm (33 in) of machining length on the 850U bed.

The main spindle runs to 5000 rpm at 22 kW (30 HP) peak and 15 kW (20 HP) continuous. The second spindle matches its 8" chuck and 5000 rpm speed at 18.5 kW (25 HP) peak and the same 15 kW (20 HP) continuous rating. That near-parity is what distinguishes a genuine second spindle from a parts catcher — back-end operations can carry meaningful cuts rather than being restricted to facing and chamfering.

Milling is a 12000 rpm spindle at 18.5 kW (25 HP) peak, 15 kW (20 HP) continuous, with 57.3 N·m peak and 46.1 N·m continuous torque, running HSK-T63 or HSK-A63 tooling. The B-axis covers -30° to +210° with a 0.0001° minimum increment, giving access over and under the part rather than only across it.

Travels are 535 mm (21 in) in X, 210 mm (8 in) in Y and 900 mm (35 in) in Z. The 210 mm Y stroke is the specification that governs how much prismatic work the machine can genuinely absorb: it covers off-center holes, flats, slots and pockets on turned components, but a part that is mostly milled belongs on a machining center. X rapids at 48000 mm/min (1890 IPM) with Y and Z at 40000 mm/min (1575 IPM).

The 36-pocket magazine takes tools to Φ90 mm, Φ130 mm with an adjacent pocket empty, 300 mm long and 5 kg. The 5 kg tool weight limit is worth checking against a proposed tool list, since it rules out some heavier boring and milling assemblies.

At 11130 kg on a 3505 × 2735 mm footprint and 2445 mm tall, the i-200S NEO fits a conventional shop floor. It suits medical, aerospace and precision contract work where the value is in eliminating second-operation setups.

Strengths & Limitations

Strengths

  • Second spindle matches the main on chuck size and speed — 8" at 5000 rpm — and shares its 15 kW (20 HP) continuous rating, so back-end operations carry real cuts rather than just facing
  • Main spindle rated 22 kW (30 HP) peak and 15 kW (20 HP) continuous for the roughing half of the cycle
  • 12000 rpm milling spindle at 18.5 kW (25 HP) peak with 57.3 N·m peak torque, running HSK-T63 or HSK-A63 tooling
  • B-axis spanning -30° to +210° at a 0.0001° minimum increment gives access over and under the part, not only across it
  • 36-pocket magazine is generous for a machine in this envelope and supports a full turning-plus-milling tool set
  • Φ600 mm (Φ24 in) machining diameter with 850 mm (33 in) of length on an 11130 kg machine that fits a conventional shop floor

Limitations

  • 210 mm (8 in) of Y travel caps how much prismatic work the machine can absorb — a mostly-milled part belongs on a machining center
  • The 5 kg (11 lbs) maximum tool weight is restrictive and rules out some heavier boring and milling assemblies
  • Maximum tool length of 300 mm (12 in) and Φ90 mm diameter constrain deep-bore and large-cutter work
  • Both turning spindles top out at 5000 rpm, limiting surface speed on small diameters
  • Only the 850U bed is specified, so there is no longer-bed option for extended shaft work

Best For

Medical and aerospace components completed on both ends without an operator touching them between operations Precision contract work where the value is in eliminating second-operation setups Turned parts inside Φ600 mm (Φ24 in) needing off-center holes, flats, slots and pockets Shops with conventional floor loading that cannot take a foundation-mounted machine Part families where B-axis access over and under the part removes a separate milling operation

Frequently Asked Questions

01 Is the second spindle on the i-200S NEO a real working spindle?

Yes. It carries the same 8" chuck and 5000 rpm maximum as the main spindle, rated 18.5 kW (25 HP) peak against the main spindle's 22 kW (30 HP), and both share a 15 kW (20 HP) continuous rating. That near-parity is what separates a genuine second spindle from a parts catcher — back-end work can take meaningful cuts.

02 How much milling can the i-200S NEO absorb?

The milling spindle runs to 12000 rpm at 18.5 kW (25 HP) peak and 15 kW (20 HP) continuous, with 57.3 N·m peak and 46.1 N·m continuous torque, on a B-axis covering -30° to +210°. Y travel of 210 mm (8 in) is the governing figure: it handles off-center holes, flats, slots and pockets on turned components, but not parts that are mostly prismatic.

03 What tooling limits should be checked before ordering?

The magazine holds 36 tools on HSK-T63 or HSK-A63 shanks. Maximum tool size is Φ90 mm diameter, Φ130 mm with an adjacent pocket empty, 300 mm long and 5 kg. The 5 kg weight limit is the one worth checking a proposed tool list against, since it excludes some heavier assemblies.

04 What is the working capacity of the i-200S NEO?

Maximum machining diameter is Φ600 mm (Φ24 in) with 850 mm (33 in) of machining length on the 850U bed. Linear travels are 535 mm (21 in) in X, 210 mm (8 in) in Y and 900 mm (35 in) in Z, with X rapiding at 48000 mm/min (1890 IPM) and Y and Z at 40000 mm/min (1575 IPM).
