Overview

The LVD Easy-Form 170/40 is a 1,700 kN press brake with a 4,000 mm (157.5 in) working length, and for many fabricators it is the natural all-round size of the series: long enough for most sheet, strong enough for medium plate on shorter parts.

Moving here from the lighter four-metre models is a step in installation, not just in force. The Easy-Form 135/40 runs a 22 kW motor and weighs 11,000 kg. This machine has a 37 kW motor and a 425 L tank at 285 bar, and weighs 13,500 kg (29,762 lb). The foundation and the supply need to be planned for it.

In return the speed holds. Approach is 180 mm/s, working speed 22 mm/s and return 200 mm/s. A buyer comparing it with the Easy-Form 220/40 should weigh that: the stronger machine approaches at 120 mm/s.

The uprights are 3,150 mm (124.0 in) apart and the gap is 400 mm (15.7 in), so a full-length part has that much flange depth at each end. Working height is 970 mm (38.2 in) and the table 120 mm (4.7 in) wide.

LVD equips every Easy-Form with its laser angle system, a custom-made crowning system and linear encoders mounted so that frame deflection does not enter the ram measurement. The backgauge can be anything from two axes to a full multi-axis unit.

Strengths & Limitations

Strengths

  • 1,700 kN over 4,000 mm (157.5 in) with a 22 mm/s working speed
  • Approaches at 180 mm/s, where the Easy-Form 220/40 lists 120 mm/s
  • Crowning engineered and machined for the individual machine
  • Linear encoders isolated from frame deflection
  • Multi-axis backgauge options for non-parallel flanges

Limitations

  • 13,500 kg (29,762 lb), against 11,000 kg for the Easy-Form 135/40
  • Needs a 37 kW supply and 425 L of oil
  • 3,150 mm (124.0 in) between uprights for a four-metre bed
  • Hydraulic clamping, sheet followers and front supports are options

Best For

All-round four-metre bending Medium plate on shorter parts, sheet at full length Job shops with unpredictable part mixes Parts with tapered or non-parallel flanges

Frequently Asked Questions

01 How does the Easy-Form 170/40 compare with the Easy-Form 220/40?

The Easy-Form 220/40 has 2,200 kN and weighs 15,300 kg but approaches at 120 mm/s and works at 21 mm/s. This model has 1,700 kN and 13,500 kg with 180 mm/s and 22 mm/s. Both use a 37 kW motor.

02 What backgauge can it have?

LVD describes a range that starts at a basic two-axis backgauge and goes up to a full multi-axis system for parallel and non-parallel flanges. An additional gauging finger appears among the options.

03 What does the installation require?

The table lists a 37 kW motor, a 425 L oil tank and a machine weight of 13,500 kg (29,762 lb). LVD publishes no overall dimensions on the page, so the footprint has to come from the installation drawing.

04 Is clamping manual or hydraulic?

Quick-acting hydraulic clamping on ram and table is an option, which LVD recommends for faster set-ups. The page does not describe the standard clamping in detail.
