Juaristi MX9 — price

Price estimate: uncertain

We have no price for the Juaristi MX9 that we can cite and no estimate we can stand behind, so this page shows no number rather than a guess. A quote from Juaristi or an authorised dealer is the reliable figure.

What moves the final price

  • Spindle, control and probing options
  • Tool changer capacity and tooling package
  • Automation — pallet changers, bar feeders, robot cells
  • Freight, rigging, installation and training
  • Region, dealer and time of year

Overview

With a 520 x 580 mm (20.5 x 22.8 in) RAM and 2,000 mm (78.7 in) of Z stroke, the Juaristi MX9 is the largest of the MX floor type milling machines. Vertical travel is listed from 2,000 mm in 500 mm steps up to 7,000 mm, and X as 4,000 mm plus N x 2,000 mm.

The RAM is the real difference. The MX5 and MX7 share a 460 x 520 mm section; only this model gets the heavier one, and with it the longest cross stroke of the three. Juaristi's claim of machining parts up to 7 m high belongs to this size, since no other MX milling column reaches that height.

Spindle figures rise at the top end only. Head power is 40/64 kW and torque 1,300 / 2,500 Nm (959 / 1,844 lb-ft), while the lower value of each pair and the 5,000 – 6,000 min-1 speed row are common to the whole range. So an MX9 with the lighter head cuts like its smaller siblings; the gain comes with the stronger head, and the offer should state which one is included.

Mass has a cost in motion. The feed row reads 30-20-20 m/min, the slowest of the MX milling machines. For long roughing passes that hardly matters. For work with many short repositioning moves it will show in cycle time.

An operator platform with three independent movements in X, Y and Z is part of the maker's description, a practical point on a column this tall.

Strengths & Limitations

Strengths

  • Largest RAM of the MX milling range: 520 x 580 mm section with 2,000 mm of Z stroke
  • Vertical travel up to 7,000 mm
  • Top head rating of 64 kW and 2,500 Nm
  • Bed length built from 4,000 mm plus 2,000 mm sections
  • Works with rotary tables of 8 to 180 tonne capacity, per the maker

Limitations

  • Feeds of 30-20-20 m/min, the lowest feed row in the MX milling table
  • Speed range stays at 5,000 – 6,000 min-1 regardless of size
  • The lower power and torque values, 40 kW and 1,300 Nm, are no higher than on the MX5
  • No accuracy, weight or foundation data in the table

Best For

Parts up to 7 m high on a floor plate Heavy milling at long reach with the 520 x 580 mm RAM Large energy, naval and railway components Installations combining the column with large rotary tables

Frequently Asked Questions

01 How tall a part can the MX9 machine?

Vertical head travel is listed as 2,000 mm plus N x 500 mm, up to 7,000 mm, and the maker's text speaks of parts up to 7 m high and 5 m wide. The usable height on a given job also depends on the head fitted and on how the part is supported.

02 What makes the MX9 different from the MX7?

The RAM and the height. The MX9 has a 520 x 580 mm RAM with 2,000 mm of stroke and Y up to 7,000 mm; the MX7 uses a 460 x 520 mm RAM with 1,650 – 1,800 mm of stroke and Y up to 6,000 mm. Top head power is 64 kW on the MX9 against 60 kW on the MX7.

03 What are the spindle figures of the MX9?

Head power 40/64 kW (53.6/85.8 hp), torque 1,300 / 2,500 Nm, rotation speed 5,000 – 6,000 min-1 and 2 speed ranges. Juaristi notes a cooled gearbox transmission. The table does not label which head carries which rating.

04 How fast does the MX9 traverse?

The feed row gives 30-20-20 m/min under the heading X, Y, Z, W. Three values are printed for four letters, so ask Juaristi which axis each belongs to. The first figure matches the 30 m/min the maker quotes for the series.
