Overview

A flanged shaft of a little over two metres is the typical job for the Johnford ST-100BH, which has 2,400 mm (94.5 in) of Z travel and 800 mm (31.5 in) of swing over the cross slide.

The shaft section runs at up to 2,000 rpm in a 381 mm (15 in) chuck, or a 450 mm (17.7 in) one. The flange is where the frame earns its place. With 420 mm (16.5 in) of X travel the turret reaches the rim, and with the optional C axis, live tool turret and Y axis of ±75 mm (±3 in) the bolt holes and keyways can be machined in the same setup.

Those options are worth pricing together. A C axis alone positions the part; the live tool turret does the drilling; the Y axis is needed only for features off the center plane, such as keyways with parallel sides.

The B spindle has a 132.5 mm (5.2 in) bore and 116 mm (4.6 in) of bar capacity, with 22 / 26 kW (29.5 / 34.9 hp) as standard. Tailstock travel is 2,100 mm (82.7 in) on a Ø200 mm (7.9 in) MT#7 quill. Weight is 16,600 kg (36,520 lb), and the machine is 7,812 mm (307.6 in) long.
