Overview
The Citizen Miyano BNA-42SY5 is a twin-spindle CNC lathe with a 12-station Y-axis turret, taking 42 mm (1.65 in) bar on the main spindle and 34 mm (1.34 in) on the sub-spindle, with 42 mm optional there. The main spindle runs to 6,000 rpm on 11 kW and the sub-spindle to 5,000 rpm on 5.5 kW. It is not in Citizen's current lineup.
The Y axis is what this model adds to the BNA family. It has 70 mm of travel (+/-35 mm) at a 12 m/min (472 ipm) rapid, and every one of the 12 stations can carry a rotary tool on independent clutch drive, running to 5,000 rpm on a 2.8 / 1.0 kW motor. That covers off-centre holes, milled flats and slots on parts that would otherwise go to a mill after turning. Drilling is listed to 10 dia. and tapping to M8 x 1.25.
The slides are longer than on the Miyano BNA-42S, which has 135 mm (5.31 in) of X travel and a single turret without Y. Here X is 140 mm (5.51 in), Z1 is 285 mm (11.22 in) and the sub-spindle axis Z2 is 360 mm (14.17 in), all at 20 m/min (787 ipm). Standard machining length is 100 mm (3.94 in). The main spindle takes a 5 inch power chuck and the sub-spindle a 4 inch chuck; tools are 20 mm square for turning and 25 mm diameter for boring.
