Price estimate
We do not have a price for the Johnford HT-100-2D that we can stand behind, so we show no number. Configuration, options and installation move the final price a long way: a quote is the reliable figure.
Overview
At 2,500 mm (98.4 in) between centers the Johnford HT-100-2D is the longest HT lathe with twin turrets and a tailstock. Z1 covers the full 2,500 mm (98.4 in); Z2 covers 2,260 mm (89 in).
It is also the heaviest of the 2D machines, 23,000 kg (50,600 lb) with spindle A and 23,200 kg (51,040 lb) with spindle E, and the widest: the outside dimensions are 6,600 x 3,595 x 2,940 mm (259.8 x 141.5 x 115.7 in).
Work on a bed of this length tends to be low in speed and high in torque, and the spindle table reflects it. The large variants give up rpm for bore: D has a Ø185 mm (7.3 in) bore at 1,000 rpm and E a Ø236 mm (9.3 in) bore at 750 rpm, both on Ø240 mm (9.4 in) and Ø280 mm (11 in) bearings with an A2-15 nose. They carry 30 / 37 kW (40.2 / 49.6 hp) as standard through four automatic steps.
The tailstock travels 2,200 mm (86.6 in). Its rotary quill is Ø200 mm (7.9 in), MT#7, with 200 mm (7.9 in) of stroke. Swing over the bed is Ø690 mm (27.2 in), over the cross slide Ø600 mm (23.6 in). Both turrets are 12-station, non-driven units unless the live tool turret is ordered.
