How much does the Ecoca SL-8MC cost?
Price estimate
We do not have a price for the Ecoca SL-8MC that we can stand behind, so we show no number. Configuration, options and installation move the final price a long way: a quote is the reliable figure.
Overview
Ecoca lists the SL-8MC beside the SL-8 as the 12-station version of its small linear-guide lathe. It has the 8 in (203 mm) chuck, 4,500 rpm spindle and 11/15 kW (14.8/20.1 hp) motor of the base model, with a different turret and a slightly tighter swing over the cross slide.
A word of caution about the suffix. On the MT pages, each MC column comes with a milling speed row. The SL table has no such row at all. Three things change between the SL-8 column and this one: tool stations go from 10 to 12, swing over the cross slide goes from 350 mm (13.8 in) to 340 mm (13.4 in), and weight goes from 3,350 kg (7,385 lb) to 3,450 kg (7,606 lb). The accessories note about optional living tool holders is the only other hint of driven tooling. Before quoting milled features to a customer, get the driven-tool speed and power from Ecoca in writing.
The turning envelope is not reduced, which is unusual. Maximum turning diameter stays at 320 mm (12.6 in) and turning length at 480 mm (18.9 in). On several of the box-way MT machines the MC column shows a smaller turning diameter than the two-axis one, so a buyer comparing the two families should note the difference.
Underneath is the SL platform as Ecoca describes it: a 30 degree slant design, linear guideways on both axes, and FANUC β series spindle and axial servo motors. The machine suits quick, light-to-medium cutting. If the driven tools check out, it becomes a compact way to finish small turned parts with cross holes or flats in one chucking.

Strengths & Limitations
Strengths
- 12 tool stations with no loss of turning diameter or length against the SL-8
- 320 mm (12.6 in) turning diameter and 480 mm (18.9 in) turning length
- Linear guideways on both axes with FANUC β series servo and spindle motors
- 4,500 rpm spindle and an 11/15 kW (14.8/20.1 hp) motor
Limitations
- Ecoca's table prints no milling speed for the SL-8MC, so driven-tool performance is unconfirmed
- Swing over the cross slide is 340 mm (13.4 in), slightly under the 350 mm (13.8 in) of the SL-8
- Tool holders and sleeves for living tool are optional
- Single bed length; no bar capacity given

Frequently Asked Questions
01
Three rows of the table. The SL-8MC has 12 tool stations where the SL-8 has 10, a swing over the cross slide of 340 mm (13.4 in) where the SL-8 has 350 mm (13.8 in), and a weight of 3,450 kg (7,606 lb) where the SL-8 weighs 3,350 kg (7,385 lb).
02
Ecoca does not publish one. The SL table has no milling speed row, unlike the MT series tables. The accessories list notes that tool holders and sleeves are optional for living tool. Ask Ecoca for the driven-tool speed, power and C-axis details.
03
Not according to the table. Maximum turning diameter is 320 mm (12.6 in) and maximum turning length is 480 mm (18.9 in) in both the SL-8 and SL-8MC columns. Only the swing over the cross slide is smaller.
04
The series description states FANUC β series spindle and axial servo motors and linear guideways on both axes. The guideways row reads LINEAR. The bed is a 30 degree slant design.
