How much does the Industrial CNC Apprentice 404 cost?
Price estimate
We do not have a price for the Industrial CNC Apprentice 404 that we can stand behind, so we show no number. Configuration, options and installation move the final price a long way: a quote is the reliable figure.
Overview
A square table is the point of the Industrial CNC Apprentice 404. Its working area is 48 x 48 x 12 in (1,219 x 1,219 x 305 mm) on a 52 x 52 in (1,321 x 1,321 mm) table, so it accepts the full 48 in width of a standard sheet but only half its length. Shops that buy pre-cut half sheets, or that are willing to break panels down first, get sheet-width capacity in roughly half the floor length of the Artisan 408.
Motion figures match the larger machines. Rapid speed is 0-900 ipm (0-22.9 m/min). X and Y are driven by gear-reduced rack and pinion with the long axis powered from both sides of the gantry, and Z uses a precision ball screw. The frame is welded steel and the machine weighs 1,600 lb (726 kg) net.
For cutting, Industrial CNC fits a high-frequency liquid-cooled spindle with an inverter drive, variable to 24,000 rpm. The table does not give a power rating for it. Hold-down is a T-slot top with clamps; a vacuum bed is an option, and so is an 8-station automatic tool changer. Without the changer every tool change is a manual collet change, which is acceptable for one-off work and slow for nested cabinet parts.
The control is PC-based and runs G code, with files loaded from the PC, a network or an external drive. Electrical supply is AC 220 V.

Strengths & Limitations
Strengths
- 48 in (1,219 mm) of travel in both X and Y takes the full width of a standard sheet
- Rapid speed of 0-900 ipm (0-22.9 m/min), the same figure as the larger Pro Series tables
- 12 in (305 mm) of Z in the working area for thick stock and carvings
- Liquid-cooled high-frequency spindle with inverter drive, variable to 24,000 rpm
- Dust collection shoe and T-slot hold-down with clamps are included
Limitations
- A full-length sheet does not fit: the working area is 48 x 48 in (1,219 x 1,219 mm)
- The automatic tool changer and the vacuum bed are accessories
- No spindle power figure in the maker's table, and its accuracy figures are printed without a unit

Frequently Asked Questions
01
Not in one setup. The working area is 48 x 48 x 12 in (1,219 x 1,219 x 305 mm), so the sheet width fits but the length does not. Sheets have to be halved first. The Artisan 408 is the model with a 48 x 96 x 12 in (1,219 x 2,438 x 305 mm) working area.
02
The table itself is 52 x 52 in (1,321 x 1,321 mm) and the machine weighs 1,600 lb (726 kg) net. It ships in a crate of 79 x 72 x 74 in (2,007 x 1,829 x 1,880 mm), which is the size to check against doors and lifting equipment.
03
A T-slot table top with clamps is standard. A vacuum hold-down bed with zone control and a regenerative pump is offered as an accessory; the maker asks buyers to inquire about its electrical requirements, which are separate from the machine supply.
04
A PC-based, Windows control that runs G code. The maker lists point-and-click operation, on-the-fly speed and feed adjustment, and connection options for DB25, USB and Ethernet. A hand-held pendant is an accessory.
